'''Contingency: Legacy of the Greats''' (or CTGY for short).

This is an extensive lore that combines the aspects of alternate history, worldbuilding, other historical fiction and my own autobiography. The world of CTGY reflects my own experience in High School. The nations portray men and women I’ve met during this time and their behaviors are reflected by ideology and foreign policy. This originally stemmed from the thought that people are like nations with their own culture, history, ideology, etc. It gives a new story with different characters and motives.

For a detailed list of nations, see : '''[[Detailed List of Nations (Contingency)|Detailed List of Nations (CTGY:LotG)]]'''
=== Lessons of CTGY: ===
# New doesn’t always mean better.
# People may seem friendly at first but their intentions may be more malicious than you think.
# Even when it seems everyone is against you, you can;t let that discourage you.
# Friends are sacred. Cherish their company. Don’t take them for granted.
# Be careful who you trust. Not everyone is friendly.
# Pick your battles in life carefully.
# Don’t dwell. Regret is a very powerful emotion that can grow out of control if not contained.
# Life's an adventure and a story of itself. Write your own story.
# Having a good memory doesn’t make you a bad person.
# Whenever you feel down and sad, try to reach out to someone you know you can trust. A good friend or loved one is key in order to get through the tough times.
== Things Different from OTL ==

* The new nations around the world across history result in different ethnic and linguistic demographics, especially in the Americas and Asia. Some regions are more divided or united than others in OTL.
* Following an alternative viking age (mid 800s-1000s AD), Celtic groups and tribes became far more resistant than in OTL, leading to Celtic Culture not only surviving, but flourishing with little to no foreign ethnic influence or meddling.
* A more passive approach to Christianity in East Asia leads to the faith becoming far more influential on the continent than OTL, with a new branch of Christianity, Asian Protestantism forming as a result, and becoming the official religion of Josaki and Shayaku.
* The rise of a long lasting Arabic empire (Suhlamanian Empire) instead of a Turkic empire (Ottoman Empire), results in a much stronger Arab and Islamic influence in the world, making Christianity and Islam equally rivaling religions in the world.
* Women after the 1850s are much more politically active as a result of the imbalance of gender power following the 1840s Liberal Democratic Revolutions and the 1920s Western Syndicalist Revolutions, leading to a more balanced male-female demographic in the political field. For example Natasha Hill being a prominent 1960s and 1970s conservative figure in the Garecian Republic, or Hazel Scott being the current head of state in the Commune of Briayon.
* The world is less bipolar as the world has many more great powers in the modern world that struggle against each other.
* The world is much more geopolitically engaged, and culture is more defined by ideologies and conflict between them. This makes even the most youthful generations being much more politically involved on both the left and right wing.
* Due to WW2 happening in the 1990s, technological progress is stunted by a decade. This has the effect of the world never leaving a mix of 2000s and 2010s culture, style and attitude.
* AI technology isn’t invested into as much as OTL, and same goes for the Social Media industry, which causes the modern youth to be much more in-person social, more extroverted and less toxic, yet while the toxicity from social media is removed, it is replaced by ideological driven toxicity.
* With the less interest in social media, people continue on to value family, tradition, friendships, love, cooperation. This goes for all sides of the political spectrum.
* Since the 2000s and 2010s mixed culture never goes away, radical social justice movements like Black Lives Matter and LGBTQ+ never pick up to become mainstream, and instead are only minor and are practiced in tiny social circles.

== History ==
In 1759, a protest against colonial rule led by general Thomas Garret was fired upon by Briayonish soldiers stationed in the city of Quinn City. Many of Briayon’s European and colonial rivals denounced the action taken against its people. Facing mass opposition, King Arthur VII sent 500,000 more soldiers to occupy Briayonish North America. In response, several underground militias began forming, and many generals once loyal to the crown began to despise the colonial government. Once the troops arrived, the men of BNA rose up under the leadership of the Republican Congress stationed in Hatchet. Thus began the War for Independence.

As reinforcements arrived from Briayon, the republican rebels began to fall apart, with many doubting the leadership of the Hatchet Congress. However, Thomas Garret, a former military captain for the crown, was chosen as the head of the military. With that, a Mrassian general by the name of Heinrich Klostermann arrived to give the rebels proper military training. In 1765, after much diplomacy with Briayon’s European rivals, the Mrassianic states, Destburg, Alesta and several others agreed to aid the rebel cause. In the meantime, the first constitution of the Garecian Republic, named after general Thomas Garret, was finalized and the Garecians proclaimed the independence of the new state.

The Garecian Republic became independent from the Kingdom of Briayon in 1768. Thomas Garret (Classical Liberal) became the first elected president of the new country. In the final peace negotiations with Briayon, the Garecians gained the entirety of the BNA colony, and most of these new lands were organized into government owned, federal territories.

=== Lessons of CTGY: ===
