The Liberal Democratic Party (Kalhan: Liberál-Demokrataséaton Eri[1]), commonly known as the LibDems or Blues, is a centrist political party in Kalșeri. It currently holds a relative majority of seats in the Senate, and has the highest number of Representatives.
Founded in 1783 as the Liberal Republican Party, itself derived from the Hișon Vionia movement that brought Kalșeri to its independence, it was one of the two main political forces in Kalșeri, with the other one being the social democratic Kalhan Front. The current incarnation of the Party was born on June 27, 1959, with the merger of the Christian Democrats and the Liberal Republicans. From independence to 1977, the alternation between the Social Cooperation Party and the Liberal Democratic Party (and their past incarnations) regularly took place; this changed when the SCP was ousted from power, as part of the investigations around the Lockheed scandal. The Liberal Democratic Party itself was involved in a scandal involving the now-defunct Callanserrian Chemical Corporation in 2001. Seven of the ten ceremonial heads of State since 1959 have been members of the Liberal Democratic Party.
The party advocates classical liberalism, fiscal conservatism, federalism and a smaller role of the state in the national economy. Some LibDems are ideologically closer to conservatism, whereas others embrace social liberalism.

Factions
The Liberal Democratic Party is divided into unofficial factions, which are generally named after their most prominent representatives. The nuances in the values adopted by each group, as well as the presence of sub-factions, make identification of exact ideologies difficult.
Schumann faction
Named after President John L. Schumann, this faction is a proponent of Christian democratic and economically moderate policies, with an emphasis on achieving a higher accessibility to public services.
The Lorenzetti-Wilson sub-faction, named after Representatives Penny Lorenzetti and Al Wilson, is often described as communitarian, and proposes greater state intervention in economy and the promotion of social rights in a socially moderate agenda, sometimes incorporating Christian elements.
Garner faction
The Garner faction, named after President Phil Garner, upholds cantonal rights in face of intervention of the central government in local policies, and advocates for privatization of publicly-owned companies and avoiding the increase in taxes as much as possible. In regards to social issues, this faction is closer to the Social Cooperation Party.
This group is sometimes called "Garner-Babich", after prominent Senator and current Prime Minister Jim Babich.
Soriano faction
This faction proposed a socially conservative, federalist and economically liberal. It emerged soon after the formation of the Liberal Democratic Party, as former Christian Democrats began to voice and constitute the right wing of the party. While the majority of the members of this group broke off and formed the Reform Party in the 1980s, some prominent members included Prime Minister Alejandra Ríos Soriano, hence the colloquial name "Soriano faction"; Ríos Soriano herself left for the Reform Party in 2006.
