Liberalism in Superior
Liberalism in Superior is a political ideology and moral philosophy based upon the belief that all citizens in the kingdom are entitled to unalienable rights and advocates for the freedom of speech, religion, press, the right to assemble, and seperation of church and state. First emerging in the 19th century during the earliest days of Superior and its history, liberalism is one of the most influencial ideologies in Superior and has been described as a core component of Superian ideology and political culture. Superian liberalism is divided into three select classifications based upon historical eras; traditional or classical, progressive, and modern.
The Liberal Democratic Party of Superior, the largerst political party in Superior, is the main liberal party in the country and has played the most critical role in liberalism's influence and power over Superior's politics, culture and policy. It has represented the liberal movement in politics and advocated for liberal policies, positions, and political change. The beliefs, values and policy positions of liberalism has been changed by the direction of the Liberal Democratic Party with the New Liberal Initiative playing a critical role in influencing modern liberalism.
In the modern era, the core issues for liberalism are supporting and expanding LGBT rights, abortion rights, multiculturalism, secularism, as well as backing gun control, liberalizing certain drugs, and expanding access to healthcare, though many liberals are divided on supporting either a public option or a single-payer system. On foreign policy, Superian liberals are hesitant in their support of military intervention, favor international cooperation, and largely espouse American unionism viewing the Conference of American States in a positive light and supporting Superian cooperation in the international community and participation in the CAS and other international organizations such as the League of Nations, Trans-Pacific Allied Community, and North Atlantic Treaty Organization among others. Ideologically, Superian liberals align with the Liberal Democrats of America on a pan-American level.
Superian liberalism supports raising the minimum wage, expanding workers' rights and protections, supports unions and favors a mixed economy. Liberals are opposed to outsourcing and trade deals viewed as unfair to the working class. Liberals are also supportive of raising taxes on major corporations, oppose deregulation, and also support Green politics viewing climate change as one of the most important issues in contemporary Superior and world society. On the issue of the monarchy, liberals have been mixed between those that are neutral towards the monarchy, supportive, and those who are more critical and/or opposed to its continuation. While not endorsing republicanism, much of the modern republican movement is influenced by liberalism.
