The Faroe Islands (Faroese: Færoyar; Norse: Færeyjar) are an archipelago in the Germanic Sea, lying between Scandinavia, Iceland, and Britain.
History
The rocky isles were uninhabited by humans until the arrival of the Papar in the 6th century. These Gaelic monks brought flocks of grazing sheep, and built small hermitages.
