The Royal Olympic Committee of Superior, commonly referred to as the Superian Royal Olympic Committee or just the Royal Olympic Committee is the National Olympic Commitee for the Kingdom of Superior. The ROCS is located in Augustus, Dakota. The committee's paralympics counterpart is the Royal Paralympics Committee of Superior. The ROCS is responsible for supporting, entering, and overseeing Superian teams for the Olympic Games, Youth Olympic Games, Pan-American Games, and serves as the steward of Olympic movement in Superior. Superior recently competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics and the 2022 Winter Olympics and is expected to compete at the 2024 Summer Olympics as well.

Unlike other National Olympic Committees in the world, the Royal Olympic Committee gets its funding from both the federal government and non-government corporate donations. It is labeld as a 501(c) nonprofit corporation and recieves funding from both the federal and state governments ontop of privately owned organizations, charities and other corporations. The modern funding system was established in 1978 with the National Olympic Act which allowed for government and non-government funding for the committee, however state funding remains a partial controversy in Superior due to the taboo of mixing sports with politics in Superior.

History

The Royal Olympic Committee was founded on January 8, 1900 as the result of a major effort by Adolf A. Hoffman who sought to create an olympic committee for Superior to participate in the Olympic Games. Believing that the games were a positive force for bringing the nations of the world together and seeking to ensure that Superior remained an active participant and relevant role in the world, Hoffman lead the effort to get Superior to participate in the 1900 Summer Olympics in London, a campaign that recieved widespread support and was achieved during the 1890s. The committee itself was formally established on January 8 and would be formalized in the form of the National Olympic Participation Act which declared that Superior would participate in olympic tournaments and permit the usage of state and federal funds to support it.
