Dragan Jankovic (1896-1978) was a Europan military commander and the hero of the Third Balkan War.
Biography
Jankovic was born in Split (now Split Commune, Dalmatia Province) to Aleksandr Jankovic and an Italian seamstress. When his father died in 1907, he and his family moved to Verona (Italy). He served with the Italian Army during WWI, fighting the Austrians in the north. In the 1940s he joined the Italian Army as a commander in North Africa, but a wound forced him to return to Italy. Before the end of 1943 Jankovic retired from the army. When the Third Balkan War broke out, Jankovic returned from retirement and led the Royal Army of Europa to many successes. When he retired as supreme commander in 1966, he had received 33 medals and honors.
