The world the Edenic people came to when Eden was destroyed. The name is a bastardization of the Earthling English phrase "East Eden," being the place, in old tradition, to which sinful people were expelled. Her two suns are known in an old cosmology as Big Sikuntr /big SI-kun-ter/ (big sister) and Berøthrito /be-ROU-thri-toe/ (little brother). Istedden is dry, her deserts variously blue-gray, yellow-gray, and gleaming white. Her scattered seas are salty, her fresh springs more cherished than gold. The air being very dry, it is meteorologically more stable than many other worlds, except that temperatures tend to rise and fall great amounts between the long days and nights. In lower latitudes the days can reach 120° by 60% (EF: about 3½ hours after noon locally, about 2:45 on Earth), while nights still fall to 40°. In higher latitutdes, days can reach 80° while night fall to -70° or less.
Agriculture
Because of the dry climate and temperature extremes, Istedden has developed hardy crops of rye, barley, wheat, and many different beans, especially soyi (EF: similar to soy bean).
