The Ministry of Defense (Swedish: Försvarsdepartementet) or MoD is major ministry of the Government of the Nordic Federation. It is responsible for implementing government policies related to national and civil defense and serves as the headquarters of the Nordic Armed Forces.

Governance and Organization

The Ministry of Defense is governed and managed by several committees.

  • The Defense Council, chaired by the Minister of Defense and formed of the Chiefs of Staff and civilian officials, serves to recommend national and civil defense options to the Grand Marshal.
  • Office of the Minister of Defense, led by the Minister of Defense and including a predominantly civilian staff and is the principal staff element of the Ministry of Defense in the exercise of policy development, planning, resource management, fiscal and program evaluation and oversight, and interface and exchange with other government departments, foreign governments, and international organizations, through formal and informal processes.
