In the late 1850s, the Polyingffhian Council began deliberating on restricting the use of '''impact cathedrals''' - large spacecraft/mobile fortresses that doubled as weapons of mass destruction by impacting planetary surfaces, causing devastation on a regional scale. Fearing that Polyingffh's regulations would threaten their advantages over their rivals, Morbidia and Ferre thus initiated the '''War of the Cathedrals''' in 1858. The Morbidian military's elite knights, the '''Knights of Heaven's Fall''', utilized 12 Morbidian impact cathedrals against major Osuwan cities; simultaneously, the Feran Federation's own elite forces, the '''Servants of the Holy Grail''', utilized their 7 impact cathedrals against Tristania. The initial impacts collectively caused 34.82 million deaths in Osuwa and 27.63 million deaths on Tristania.

The Interstellar Consortium of Polyingffh, also known as simply Polyingffh or the Consortium, was a decentralized federal union between various alien civilizations that collectively controlled 65 star systems across the Orion-Cygnus Arm of the Milky Way alongside countless other unincorporated stellar territories. At the Consortium's peak, it boasted a total population of 1.2 trillion intelligent lifeforms from a total of 24 intelligent alien species.

The Interstellar Consortium was originally formed in 1799 amidst the Age of Contact, when the Kingdom of Kaywell, a nation hailing from Uingffh, developed efficient faster-than-light interstellar travel and facilitated the contact of numerous neighboring stellar civilizations with each other. Though interstellar wars and political disputes broke out during the Consortium's fledgling years, the stellar powers ultimately defused these conflicts, successfully preventing Polyingffh from fully collapsing. The Interstellar Consortium then proceeded to thrive over the next few centuries, facilitating the colonization of newly-explored star systems, defusing more conflicts between stellar civilizations, and encountering new alien civilizations as it explore more of local space. In the process, many of the Consortium's member nations experienced significant cultural blooms as culture spread between star systems for the first time in interstellar history. Meanwhile, the Kingdom of Kaywell maintained a prominent role in the Consortium as a stellar peacekeeper, using diplomacy and a powerful military to quell conflicts between member worlds and promote more progressive policies.

Polyingffh would ultimately begin unraveling in 2018, when Kaywellian scientists discovered the Uingffhian sentient species' direct descendance from the ancient Izlondian civilization, which seeded the rest of the life in the stars. Shortly after, the highly conservative Imperial Traditionalist party secured control of the Kingdom of Kaywell's government and used the aforementioned revelation as evidence of Uingffhian species supremacy. The Imperial Traditionalists subsequently transformed Kaywell into the theocratic, xenophobic, and expansionist Imperial Kingdom of Kaywell, which promptly exited the Consortium and declared a holy war of extermination against all of its member worlds. Imperial Kaywell's already-extraordinarily powerful military, now even more enhanced thanks to ancient Izlondian technological artifacts, overwhelmed the Consortium and its member civilizations with significant ease. By the middle of the 21st Century, the Interstellar Consortium was considered lost, with hundreds of its member worlds being completely sundered by Imperial Kaywell and many of its member species being hunted by Kaywellians to near extinction.

Polyingffh was highly decentralized, with the vast majority of political power being delegated to its member civilizations’ individual governments. Stellar powers within the Consortium were free to independently pass their own laws, build their own militaries, appoint their own rulers, carry out their own criminal justice systems, etc. Nonetheless, federal oversight did exist in the form of the Polyingffhian Council, a body of elected representatives from each of Polyingffh’s member worlds. Stellar powers were also bound by restrictions such as the Sumber Alami Codes, which regulated certain forms of particularly deadly or destructive weaponry.

Owing to its decentralized nature, Polyingffh did not have a single unifying culture, but rather existed as a collection of various diverse cultures. Stellar societies initially tended to isolate themselves from one another, but cultural intermingling grew more common in succeeding years, leading to major blooms in the arts and other culture-related fields. Additionally, Polyingffhian culture was initially split between more authoritarian nations and more democratic civilizations. This later evolved into a divide between civilizations with favorable relations with the Uingffhian civilization (a founding Consortium member and the primary military power of the stars) and those with less friendly relations with it. Regardless, tolerance for other civilizations’ cultures and norms formed a major value of the Interstellar Consortium.

History

Age of Contact and Formation (1795-1812)

In the early 1790s, the Kingdom of Kaywell of the habitable moon Uingffh achieved faster-than-light travel capabilities via the development of Thegasia technology derived from the Thegasia Wormhole Gate, a large artifact left behind by the ancient Izlondian Imbrialty. Now possessing the ability to quickly travel between star systems, Kaywell began rapidly exploring local space and making contact with star systems outside of Ingffhaestia throughout the rest of the 1790s.

Kaywell's exploration of the stars led to the Age of Contact, where the Uingffhians quickly contacted various alien civilizations and facilitated interactions between them. By 1812, the Uingffhians had established contact with a total of 17 other intelligent alien species (the Tristanians, Ferans, Sartretarian Lizards, Xylmethystas, Quans, Zyrics, Imrians, Zetanthens, Floranias, Lemurian Slimes, Galdnoans, Ascans, Cergals, Squirmlians, Asterians, Georgakans, and Panathurs) across 10 star systems outside of Ingffhaestia (the Tilaga, Tanitarium, Oirator, Corvallis, Exirium, Iris, Sazatos, Cergol, and Sarallel).

The early stages of conflict quickly began erupting between the various stellar powers due to the sudden rise of interstellar travel and contact; in order to prevent disastrous interstellar warfare, Kaywell facilitated the formation of the Interstellar Consortium of Polyingffh on December 5, 1799. During the decade afterwards, Polyingffh - at the time primarily managed by Kaywellian politicians - did its best to ease contact by initially keeping the stellar powers isolated via regulations on interstellar travel, but then gradually increasing contact between the star systems in order to accustom them to each other. Once they did, Kaywell would grant the civilizations the opportunity to fully integrate themselves into its Consortium of planets.

Three Great Offensives (1812-1838)

Most stellar civilizations successfully integrated themselves into Polyingffh thanks to Kaywell's gradual efforts. However, a few of the more aggressive societies - namely the Xylnaridium Nonarchy of the Oirator System, the Ascan Empire of the Sazatos System, and the Zagred Principality of the Exirium System - refused to join the Consortium. All three of them took military action against Polyingffh, leading to a period known as the Three Great Offensives beginning in 1812.

Oirator Crisis

The Xylnaridium Nonarchy facilitated one of the great offensives, the Oirator Crisis, from its home system by declaring a holy war on the rest of Polyingffh over causes related to its religion of Tibiruism (worship of Tibiru, a bluish moon orbiting the Xylnarid homeworld of Nyxoricate). However, due to its numerical disadvantage, the Nonarchy chose to focus its attacks on its neighbors Quantessia and Zyrical as well as on the Ingffhaestian System itself.

The initial phase of the ensuing Oirator Crisis saw Kaywell and the other Polyingffhian member states ally with Quantessia and Zyrical's civilizations in combatting the Xylnaridium Empire. This initially proved successful in pushing back against Xylnaridium's efforts, with many of Consortium's members each deploying large fleets to the system; for instance, the Kingdom of Kaywell deployed the Order of Novus to battle against Xylnaridian starships. The Kingdom also invested other resources into helping Zyrical and Quantessia recover from previous Xylnaridian attacks and constructing new weaponry to use against Xylnaridium.

However, in 1816, the outbreak of the two other great offensives forced the Consortium and Kaywell to divert some of its forces from Oirator. The Xylnaridium Nonarchy seized this opportunity to mount a massive offensive and push back the Polyingffhian forces. This began when Xylnaridium began employing newly-manufactured Xymphorite Cannons, superweapons that concentrated nuclear charges into narrow beams that struck targets from orbit, leading to mass destruction. The Nonarchy proceeded to use these cannons against Polyingffhian, dealing them immense space fleet losses. They even fired them upon the surfaces of Zyrical and Quantessia, leading to thousands of deaths.

Additionally, some Xylnarid forces stole Uingffhian ships equipped with Thegasia Drives and used them to launch a devastating on Ingffhaestia itself on December 26, 1818. Dubbed the Day of Shards, Xylnarid forces fires Xymphorite Cannons on various major Uingffhian cities, leading to the deaths of 1.765 million Uingffhian citizens. Thankfully, other Polyingffhian member states - most notably Sartretarium, Hydrasia, and Thritania - quickly intervened, preventing Xylnaridium from progressing their assault further and attacking the Uingffhian capital cities.

Rozé Cuarzite Rebellion and conclusion

Internal unrest within the Xylnaridium Nonarchy’s racial caste system slowly began hampering the Xylnarids’ war efforts, culminating in the Rozé Cuarzite Rebellion in 1829. Beginning that year, the lower castes of the Nonarchy under the leadership of the revolutionary Rozé Cuarzite began to rebel against the leading Diamondite Authority. The Polyingffhian Consortium backed these rebels, allowing their side to recapture its advantage in the war.

Unfortunately, in 1834, the Rozé Cuarzite Rebellion ended with the exposure of Rozé Cuarzite as deposed Xylnarid Diamondite Pink Diamondite, whom the Nonarchy summarily executed. However, the failed rebellion importantly brought Polyingffh time to properly prepare and initiate a second offensive against Xylnaridium, the crises in Exirium and Sazatos having already been resolved. The attack was quick and effective due to Polyingffh's enormous numerical advantage, leading to the Nonarchy’s surrender in 1838. However, it was also notoriously deadly; Polyingffh's second offensive claimed the lives of 1.308 billion Xylmethystas, including all Diamondite leaders except for the more sympathetic Yellow Diamondite and Blue Diamondite.

Exirium Crisis

Diagram of the Exirium System, the home system of the Zetanthe Republic and the Principality of Zagred. Distances are not to scale; sizes are roughly to scale. Note that only notable moons are shown in this diagram; smaller, more minor moons have been omitted.

Shortly after the outbreak of the war in Oirator, tensions began heating up in the Exirium System, where its two warring powers - the Republic of Zetanthe and the Principality of Zagred - refused to coexist as equal members of the Consortium. After Zetanthe accepted integration into the Consortium in 1816, the autocratic Zagred announced its intention to refuse admission into Polyingffh and continue warring against Zetanthe.

The ensuing Exirium Crisis spurred tension in the Consortium not militarily like with Oirator, but politically. The conflict bred intense debates over Polyingffh’s stances on democracy vs. autocracy, with people disagreeing on the extent to which Polyingffh should tolerate non-democratic governments. These conflicts quickly escalated into riots and small-scale civil wars which threatened to fracture Polyingffh into two.

In the end, leading members of the Consortium as well as various charity organizations (including the Kingdom of Kaywell’s four chivalric orders) mitigated the conflict by tackling the deeper roots of Zetanthe and Zagred’s hostility: resource shortages in the Principality of Zagred and economic inequality in the Zetanthe Republic. By providing much-needed resources to Zagred and introducing egalitarian policies in Zetanthe, Polyingffh allowed the Exirium System’s political instability to steadily ease. Zagred rejoined the Zetanthe Republic, which then accepted Interstellar Consortium membership in 1834.

Though Polyingffh successfully defused the Exirium Crisis without as much bloodshed as the Oirator Crisis, its occurrence still spurred the Interstellar Consortium into developing a clearer system of government. In the same year that the Exirium System joined the Consortium, Polyingffh officially adopted a federal system of government, granting member stellar powers a significant degree of lawmaking autonomy. Nonetheless, Polyingffh did pass restrictions curtailing the power of authoritarian regimes similar to Zagred, preventing them from abusing their power. But even then, tolerance of authoritarianism continued to be a notable point of debate amongst Polyingffhians.

Sazatos Crisis

Diagram of the Sazatos System, the home system of the Ascan Empire. Distances are not to scale; sizes are roughly to scale. Note that only notable moons are shown in this diagram; smaller, more minor moons have been omitted.

As tensions in the Exirium System erupted in 1816, a third offensive - the Sazatos Crisis - erupted in the Sazatos System, the home system of the theocratic Ascan Empire of the planet Asca. Relations between Asca and the rest of the stars were initially relatively neutral despite Asca's theocratic nature, but upon the discovery of Asca's brutal sundering of the neighboring planet Galdnoah, the Ascan Empire refused to join the Consortium and declared war in a similar fashion to Xylnaridium.

Thankfully, due to the Ascan Empire's inferior technology, Polyingffhian forces led by Kaywellian ships successfully steadily pushed back the Ascan Empire via conventional starship warfare. Eventually, Asca surrendered in 1832 following a ground assault on the Ascan capital itself. Afterwards, the Sazatos System was admitted into the Consortium, with both Polyingffh and sympathetic Ascans assisting surviving Galdnoans in rebuilding their civilization and their planet.

Though the Sazatos Crisis ended swiftly and peacefully compared to the other two great offensives, its aftermath attracted significant controversy when viruses imported from other planets during the ground assault began devastating the Ascan population. Though Polyingffh was able to contain the spread of the viruses after the Three Great Offensives concluded, the pandemics nonetheless wiped out over 50% of the Ascan population, breeding resentment towards the Consortium amongst Ascans, especially those nostalgic for the original empire.

Age of Adjustment (1838-1857)

After the Three Great Offensives were defused, the Interstellar Consortium entered a period of relative peace known as the Age of Adjustment, where the stellar powers making up the Consortium steadily adjusted to each other's existence. The civilizations of the stars began exchanging technology and culture, leading to accelerated scientific advancement as well as extraordinary cultural blooms. It was during the Age of Adjustment that Polyingffhian and its member powers began colonizing nearby uninhabited star systems, beginning with the Kingdom of Kaywell's colonization of the Altaria and Esernium systems. Additionally, the Age of Adjustment saw the beginning of immigration between stellar powers and star systems; for instance, Tristanians began immigrating to Uingffh and its adjacent worlds and would continue to for much of Polyingffh's lifespan.

During the Age of Adjustment, factions began forming within Polyingffh based on governmental lines. For instance, a de facto alliance between more authoritarian nations including Morbidia, Quantessia, Zyrical, Hydrasia, and Asca formed in order to gain leverage against the democratic and progressive majority. Interactions between similar nations also occurred within these factions, such as in the democratic faction where the similarly capitalist Unified States of Osuwa (a Uingffhian power) and Dezarmulian Republic began trading extensively, becoming political allies in the process. Notably, Xylnaridium and its Xylmethystas were left an interstellar pariah, being excluded from most factions due to their destructive actions during the Oirator Crisis. Thankfully, diplomats from multiple stellar powers successfully made efforts to minimize conflict between the aforementioned alliances, preventing another civil war similar to the Exirium Crisis.

Nascan Empire conflict

Only one conflict of note occurred during the Age of Adjustment: the formation of the Nascan Empire, a revival of the Ascan Empire, in 1850. That year, a sizeable band of radical Ascans, resentful towards the Consortium for the damages wrought by imported diseases, commited a coup d'etat against the new reformist Ascan government. Afterwards, they seized control of the Ascan landmass of Akkaido and attempted to re-establish the Ascan Empire, though said revival notably functioned more similarly to a de facto military junta. But ultimately, the Nascans found themselves outnumbered by both the rest of Asca and the Consortium, which both quickly defeated the nation and restored the legitimate Ascan government within a year.

In the aftermath of the Nascan Empire's downfall, debates ensued over how the key figures behind Nasca would be punished, which soon transformed into broader debates on whether Polyingffh should establish a federal court system. Ultimately, punishment of the Nascans was handed down to the Ascan planetary government, which sentenced a few particularly heinous individuals to death and sentenced the rest to life imprisonment. However, Polyingffhian officials began drafting federal conventions similar to Earth's Geneva Conventions that would establish interstellar legal standards for warfare and the treatment of those affected by it. Additionally, the Consortium's federal government passed policies aimed at improving the treatment of Ascans by increasing humanitarian aid and virus containment on Asca itself.

War of the Cathedrals (1858-1859)

As the Age of Adjustment progressed, Polyingffh passed more regulations on authoritarianism, weapons of mass destruction, and political extremism while working to equalize the political and technological power of its stellar powers. This left the governments of two stellar powers feeling particularly threatened: the Great Morbidian Hegemony on Uingffh, and the Feran Federation on Ferre. Both Morbidia and Ferre existed in states of competition with rivals at the time - Morbidia was locked in a cold war with the Unified States of Osuwa (another Uingffhian nation), while Ferre sought to maintain a technologicaly advantage over the Tristanian civilization of the neighboring moon Tristania.

In the late 1850s, the Polyingffhian Council began deliberating on restricting the use of impact cathedrals - large spacecraft/mobile fortresses that doubled as weapons of mass destruction by impacting planetary surfaces, causing devastation on a regional scale. Fearing that Polyingffh's regulations would threaten their advantages over their rivals, Morbidia and Ferre thus initiated the War of the Cathedrals in 1858. Below is a list of species homeworlds acting as members of the Interstellar Consortium.

Uingffh

ATKAT Uingffh.JPEG

Uingffhaestia, often simply referred to as Uingffh, was the world that founded the Interstellar Consortium. It is the homeworld of three sentient species: the spherical cat-like tabulons, the red-furred rabbit-like lordions, and blue-skinned crab-like mortei. Twelve nations existed on Uingffh, of which the Kingdom of Kaywell - which spearheaded the formation of Polyingffh - was the most powerful. As a whole, Uingffh was considered the most advanced and influential stellar power in the Interstellar Consortium; in particular, the Kingdom of Kaywell boasted an exceptionally powerful military, earning it the role of the Consortium's stellar peacekeeper. Uingffh was also notably the homeworld of the ancient Izlondian Imbrialty.

Uingffhian society generally revolved around the arts and culture. Creative endeavors such as drawing, painting, sculpting, writing, composing, partaking in theatrical productions, and other forms of art unique to Uingffh were held sacrosanct and had vibrant presences in most Uingffhian settlements. Such creative works are often driven by a cultural belief known as Oyiku, which entails living for the sake of a grander purpose, a future goal, or a past legacy. Such motivations are also often driven by Keliosity, the worship of Uingffh's parent planet Coppelius, though most Uingffhians during the Polyingffh era were secular. Aside from creativity, technological advancement and environmentalism were also valued by Uingffhians, who created advanced space-related technology as well as highly eco-friendly infrastructure. It should be noted that culture and beliefs did vary between Uingffh's 12 nations; for instance, sports and combat were more highly valued in the Nerusgol Union and technological advancement was prioritized in the Unified States of Osuwa.

Uingffh would ultimately be responsible for both the Consortium's rise and its downfall. In 2019, radical nationalist, Uingffhian supremacist, and theocratic forces operating under the Imperial Traditionalist political party seized control of the Kingdom of Kaywell, angered by a perceived neglect of Uingffhian culture following a damaging close encounter with a rogue brown dwarf star. After having Kaywell secede from the Consortium, the Imperial Traditionalists transformed Kaywell into the xenophobic and expansionist Imperial Kingdom of Kaywell, which used the Uingffhians' direct descendance from the ancient Izlondians to justify Uingffhian supremacy. Once it invaded the other 11 Uingffhian nations, Imperial Kaywell proceeded to mount a devastating war of annihilation against the rest of the Consortium, sundering countless species homeworlds and star systems in the process. Kaywell ultimately succeeded in destroying the Interstellar Consortium, reaching a peak of 50 incorporated/developed star systems and a "fringe" of over 500 star systems.

Uingffh itself is one of 17 moons of the gas giant Coppelius, the fifth planet in the Ingffhaestian System (known as Gliese 105 to Earth). The conditions of Uingffh itself are heavily influenced by its status as a moon of a massive gas giant. Despite lying near the outer limit of Ingffhaestia's habitable zone, Uingffh bears host to a very warm and humid climate due to tidal heating from its parent planet Coppelius. These tidal forces also influence vigorous geologic activity; earthquakes and volcanism occur at much greater rates than Earth, with geological processes like the formation of volcanoes and continents taking place across significantly shorter timeframes. Uingffh's native flora exhibits a bright bluish coating as a defense mechanism against the warmer temperatures as well as the radiation emitted by Coppelius. Uingffh itself is slightly larger and more massive than Earth, making it a super-Earth.

Uingffh and Coppelius are part of the Ingffhaestian triple star system, which is centered around the K3V main sequence star Ingffhaestia. It and its planetary system are roughly 11 billion years old, and it is expected to live for another 4-5 billion years. Ingffhaestia sports an impressively large system of 12 planets.
