Birde is an electoral division of the Georgeland House of Commons. It was first incorporated in 1970. The seat takes in rural areas in East Mainland's south-west. The largest population centre is River's Gate, with 12,000 residents. The seat had 64,646 registered voters at the 2005 election.
The seat has been held by Bob Kane for the Conservative Party of Georgeland since 1982. The seat has only ever had two MPs, both Conservatives. It is considered a safe Tory seat.
