The Interstellar Consortium of Polyingffh, also known as the Consortium of Polyingffh or simply Polyingffh, was a decentralized federal union between various alien civilizations that collectively controlled 65 star systems across the Orion-Cygnus Arm of the Milky Way alongside countless other incorporated stellar territories. At the Consortium's peak, it boasted a total population of 1.2 trillion intelligent lifeforms from a total of 24 intelligent alien species.

The Interstellar Consortium was originally formed in 1799 amidst the Age of Contact, when the Kingdom of Kaywell developed efficient faster-than-light interstellar travel and facilitated the contact of numerous neighboring stellar civilizations with each other.

History

Age of Contact and Formation (1795-1812)

In the early 1790s, the Kingdom of Kaywell of the habitable moon Uingffh achieved faster-than-light travel capabilities via the development of Thegasia technology derived from the Thegasia Wormhole Gate, a large artifact left behind by the ancient Izlondian Imbrialty. Now possessing the ability to quickly travel between star systems, Kaywell began rapidly exploring local space and making contact with star systems outside of Ingffhaestia throughout the rest of the 1790s.

Kaywell's exploration of the stars led to the Age of Contact, where the Uingffhians quickly contacted various alien civilizations and facilitated interactions between them. By 1812, the Uingffhians had established contact with a total of 17 other intelligent alien species (the Tristanians, Ferans, Sartretarian Lizards, Xylmethystas, Quans, Zyrics, Imrians, Zetanthens, Floranias, Lemurian Slimes, Galdnoans, Ascans, Cergals, Squirmlians, Asterians, Georgakans, and Panathurs) across 10 star systems outside of Ingffhaestia (the Tilaga, Tanitarium, Oirator, Corvallis, Exirium, Iris, Sazatos, Cergol, and Sarallel).

The early stages of conflict quickly began erupting between the various stellar powers due to the sudden rise of interstellar travel and contact; in order to prevent disastrous interstellar warfare, Kaywell facilitated the formation of the Interstellar Consortium of Polyingffh on December 5, 1799. During the decade afterwards, Polyingffh - at the time primarily managed by Kaywellian politicians - did its best to ease contact by initially keeping the stellar powers isolated via regulations on interstellar travel, but then gradually increasing contact between the star systems in order to accustom them to each other. Once they did, Kaywell would grant the civilizations the opportunity to fully integrate themselves into its Consortium of planets.

Three Great Offensives (1812-1838)

Most stellar civilizations successfully integrated themselves into Polyingffh thanks to Kaywell's gradual efforts. However, a few of the more aggressive societies - namely the Xylnaridium Nonarchy of the Oirator System, the Ascan Empire of the Sazatos System, and the Zagred Principality of the Exirium System - refused to join the Consortium. All three of them took military action against Polyingffh, leading to a period known as the Three Great Offensives beginning in 1812.

Oirator Crisis

The Xylnaridium Nonarchy facilitated one of the great offensives, the Oirator Crisis, from its home system by declaring a holy war on the rest of Polyingffh over causes related to its religion of Tibiruism (worship of Tibiru, a bluish moon orbiting the Xylnarid homeworld of Nyxoricate). However, due to its numerical disadvantage, the Nonarchy chose to focus its attacks on its neighbors Quantessia and Zyrical as well as on the Ingffhaestian System itself.

The initial phase of the ensuing Oirator Crisis saw Kaywell and the other Polyingffhian member states ally with Quantessia and Zyrical's civilizations in combatting the Xylnaridium Empire. This initially proved successful in pushing back against Xylnaridium's efforts, with many of Consortium's members each deploying large fleets to the system; for instance, the Kingdom of Kaywell deployed the Order of Novus to battle against Xylnaridian starships. The Kingdom also invested other resources into helping Zyrical and Quantessia recover from previous Xylnaridian attacks and constructing new weaponry to use against Xylnaridium.

However, in 1816, the outbreak of the two other great offensives forced the Consortium and Kaywell to divert some of its forces from Oirator. The Xylnaridium Nonarchy seized this opportunity to mount a massive offensive and push back the Polyingffhian forces. This began when Xylnaridium began employing newly-manufactured Xymphorite Cannons, superweapons that concentrated nuclear charges into narrow beams that struck targets from orbit, leading to mass destruction. The Nonarchy proceeded to use these cannons against Polyingffhian, dealing them immense space fleet losses. They even fired them upon the surfaces of Zyrical and Quantessia, leading to thousands of deaths.

Additionally, some Xylnarid forces stole Uingffhian ships equipped with Thegasia Drives and used them to launch a devastating on Ingffhaestia itself on December 26, 1818. Dubbed the Day of Shards, Xylnarid forces fires Xymphorite Cannons on various major Uingffhian cities, leading to the deaths of 1.765 million Uingffhian citizens. Thankfully, other Polyingffhian member states - most notably Sartretarium, Hydrasia, and Thritania - quickly intervened, preventing Xylnaridium from progressing their assault further and attacking the Uingffhian capital cities.

Rozé Cuarzite Rebellion and conclusion

Internal unrest within the Xylnaridium Nonarchy’s racial caste system slowly began hampering the Xylnarids’ war efforts, culminating in the Rozé Cuarzite Rebellion in 1829. Beginning that year, the lower castes of the Nonarchy under the leadership of the revolutionary Rozé Cuarzite began to rebel against the leading Diamondite Authority. The Polyingffhian Consortium backed these rebels, allowing their side to recapture its advantage in the war.

Unfortunately, in 1834, the Rozé Cuarzite Rebellion ended with the exposure of Rozé Cuarzite as deposed Xylnarid Diamondite Pink Diamondite, whom the Nonarchy summarily executed. However, the failed rebellion importantly brought Polyingffh time to properly prepare and initiate a second offensive against Xylnaridium, the crises in Exirium and Sazatos having already been resolved. The attack was quick and effective due to Polyingffh's enormous numerical advantage, leading to the Nonarchy’s surrender in 1838. However, it was also notoriously deadly; Polyingffh's second offensive claimed the lives of 1.308 billion Xylmethystas, including all Diamondite leaders except for the more sympathetic Yellow Diamondite and Blue Diamondite.

Exirium Crisis

Shortly after the outbreak of the war in Oirator, tensions began heating up in the Exirium System, where its two warring powers - the Republic of Zetanthe and the Principality of Zagred - refused to coexist as equal members of the Consortium. After Zetanthe accepted integration into the Consortium, the autocratic Zagred announced its intention to refuse admission into Polyingffh and continue warring against Zetanthe.

The ensuing Exirium Crisis spurred tension in the Consortium not militarily like with Oirator, but politically. The conflict bred intense debates over Polyingffh’s stances on democracy vs. autocracy, with people disagreeing on the extent to which Polyingffh should tolerate non-democratic governments. These conflicts quickly escalated into riots and small-scale civil wars which threatened to fracture Polyingffh into two.

In the end, leading members of the Consortium as well as various charity organizations (including the Kingdom of Kaywell’s four chivalric orders) mitigated the conflict by tackling the deeper roots of Zetanthe and Zagred’s hostility: resource shortages in the Principality of Zagred and economic inequality in the Zetanthe Republic. By providing much-needed resources to Zagred and introducing egalitarian policies in Zetanthe, Polyingffh allowed the Exirium System’s political instability to steadily ease. Zagred rejoined the Zetanthe Republic, which then accepted Interstellar Consortium membership in 1837.

Though Polyingffh successfully defused the Exirium Crisis without as much bloodshed as the Oirator Crisis, its occurrence still spurred the Interstellar Consortium into developing a clearer system of government. In the same year that the Exirium System joined the Consortium, Polyingffh officially adopted a federal system of government, granting member stellar powers a significant degree of lawmaking autonomy. Nonetheless, Polyingffh did pass restrictions curtailing the power of authoritarian regimes similar to Zagred, preventing them from abusing their power.
