The lands of Ilgerland have been inhabited continuously since the Stone Age. Many historians have marked the year that the first humans arrived as being roughly 2100 BC. In 1500 BC the first organised major kingdoms begun to appear. Between this time early Tådëlism begun to appear with the Pertot Edward building the first temple in c. 1750 BC. By 100 BC there existed 12 major kingdoms on the lands of Ilgerland with the Wælandië kingdom occupying the largest area on the island of the same name. In AD 451 many of the 12 kingdoms began to express ideals of uniting the archipelago. After King Cuthbert I came to power in Däcïñ in 991 he ordered an army to be mobilised and with his son, Cuthbert the Great, united the archipelago in 1037. Following this in 1089 the First Ilger Golden Age began with much of society improving in this time. The golden age ended in 1232 following the Revolution of the Temple. It would take 4 centuries before another golden age began with the second golden age ending in 1789 following the storming of the Witan by Queen Juno II. By 1794 Ilgerland collapsed into civil war with 3 factions struggling for control. By 1809 the civil war ended with the First Republic of Ilgerland being formed. In 1812 the first presidential elections were held. In 1832, following the election of Andrew Inton, protestors stormed the Parliament causing a second civil war to begin. The civil war ended in 1836 with the monarchy retaking power. In 1837, the first Prime Minister was appointed as a balance between the republic and monarchy. Between 1837 and 1865 Ilgerland experienced a relative era of peace and reconstruction. In 1865, King Declán II acceded to the throne and immediately began transforming Ilgerland into an absolute monarchy. Due to this in 1871, a third civil war began after the revolt of the Earls. The war ended in 1876 with a new monarchy being established. Following this, the rights of workers began to become a major issue. In 1901, the far-left Workers Party was established and quickly gained support. In 1915, they launched the Sunday revolution which caused the beginning of the fourth civil war. The war ended in 1923 with the Workers Army forming a communist state. The communist government was overthrown in 2004. Since 2004, Ilgerland has transformed into a democratic republic.
