The 2025 Ilger presidential election will be held on the 7th of April 2025 to elect the 4th President of Ilgerland to a four-year term.[Note 1] Incumbent President Wailiem Köneg, who was elected in 2019 and re-elected in 2021, is age-limited and cannot seek a third term. The election will be a direct election occurring over 2 rounds via instant-runoff voting. The election will be held alongside the federal and Senate elections.

Requirements

In 2022, the Electoral Commission published the requirements for standing for president:

  1. Candidates must be under 80 years old.
  2. Candidates must have a ISEQ level qualification or higher.
  3. Candidates must be at least 25 years old.
  4. Candidates cannot be currently serving a criminal conviction.
  5. Candidates must achieve 50,000 signatures to stand unless their party has at least 10 seats in the House and 5 in the Senate.
  6. Candidates must have lived in Ilgerland for 15 years or longer.
  7. Any candidate who served in the Politburo is ineligible for election.
  8. Candidates must not be a member of the Police, Secret Service, or Special Military Forces.

Candidate Selections

Alliance of Ilger People

Main Article: 2025 Alliance of Ilger People presidential candidate selection

The Alliance of Ilger People announced they would hold their candidate selection on 6th January 2025 under First Past the Post. Following moderate success in the 2021 election, Dewid Ederne announced he would run for the presidency again on 17th March 2024. His campaign is currently leading in the polls. He promised to campaign on an anti-immigration stance and a conservative economic policy. Alecia Mandon announced her campaign on 14th June 2024. She is campaigning on a socially conservative political agenda promising to return Ilgerland to its "glory days". Franciz Torro announced his campaign on 24th April 2024 in a controversial launch. He is promising a governmental takeover and a total reworking of the political system. Alix Wenton announced his campaign on 8th February 2024. Wenton, who is seen as the most far-right of the candidates, is promising to rework the parliament to make the president have more power. The candidate selection will take place on 6th January 2025 and will be held on the same day as the Democratic Party's selection.

Conservatives of Ilgerland

The Conservatives of Ilgerland initially did not schedule a candidate selection having stood by Wailiem Köneg's plans to end the age limit for the presidency. Following the failure of the motion, the Conservatives organised its selection process to occur on 15th January 2025 under instant-runoff voting. Declarations for candidates began on 2nd March 2024 and closed on 31st October 2024. Konred Burine announced his campaign on 27th March 2024. He is campaigning on a socially liberal policy with a conservative economic policy. He is the first ever openly homosexual person to run for the Conservative nomination. Hiwherd Castillo announced his campaign on 18th May 2024. He is positioning himself to be the continuation of Wailiem Köneg's presidency. Sherin De Oilivirs initially declared her candidacy on 3rd June 2024 but withdrew on 17th November 2024. She will remain on the ballot but has encouraged her supporters to vote for Burine. Matio Herthem announced his candidacy on 19th April 2024. As a political outsider, he is campaigning on a platform of deregulation. Luisa Patier announced her candidacy on 16th September 2024. She is campaigning on a platform of cracking down on what she describes as "woke communist propaganda". Otis Wentries announced his candidacy on 16th March 2024. He is campaigning on a platform of Euroscepticism promising a referendum on EU membership. The candidate selection will occur on 15th January 2025 and will occur on the same day as three other selections.
