People of the Latter Days

During the Age of Expansion, the colonies in the Heartland were reproductively isolated, and so suffered a founder effect. From the end of the Cataclysm (738BR) until the first Transworld ships (5YR), humanity was completely cut off from each other. When they rediscovered themselves, they were surprised at what they saw.

Hellings

In 739, a small group of people from Haill escaped the Cataclysm by making a colony on the then-uninhabited world of Saint Vengeance. The Hellings are moderately built(ave. adult is 5'9 m. / 5'5 f.), brownish, with chocolate eyes and curly hair that is black or blackish-red. Their ears are pointed, giving them an eldritch air.

Their language, Hellish, is descended from Earthling English.

Haallings

The inhabitants of Haall, descended from a group of survivors from the Cataclysm. The are small (5'0 m./ 4'9 f.), with bulging foreheads and horn-like lumps on the sides of their heads. They have a low reproduction rate, and high infant mortality rate, and a short lifespan (rarely over 40). Their ears have multiple pronounced folds, looking a little like a tea rose. Their skin is brown, their eyes golden, and they tend to go blind as they age.

The language of Haallish shares a common root with Hellish, but the two are as strange to each other they are to Edenic.

Edenings

The Edenings are tall (ave adult is 6' m. / 5'8 f.) and pale. Their hair is natty and their noses flat, sometimes broad. Their coloring is variable, ranging from dark hair and brown eyes to blond hair and blue eyes.

Their language, Edenic, is also descended from Earthling English, but is not intelligible to Hellings.

Mishi

The Mishi are of average build (5'10m./5'5 f.) and pale. Their hair is flat and black, their faces flat, their eyes dark. Their ears are small and the upper part of the lobe projects out horizontally.

Their language, Mishese, is descended from North Chinese.

Ummites

The Ummites are small (5'6 m./5'2 f.), pale to brown in complexion, with dark eyes. Their noses are prominent and arched. Ummites have very little hair, some have none at all. Those that do grow some thin head hair typically shave it.

Their language, Ummitic, is descended from Arabic.
