The 1876 presidential election of Rio Blanco took place on 4 August 1876, to elect the president of Rio Blanco. In this election, two voting methods were used:
- In the first round, a council of 50 men (the Major Councillors) voted;
- In the second round, 35,000 people voted.
Lt. Gen. Edwin Lanceton (Home Guard Party) was elected first President of the new country. After the election, Henry C. Coss and his supporters split from the Home Guard Party and created the Constitution Party, still active today.
