Earth-Luna
Earth-Luna, formally known for most of its history as the Earth-Lunar Union (Chinese: 地月亮联盟; Russian: Земно-Лунный Союз), was a sovereign political union in the Sol system that existed from 2101 to 2417 CEC. Throughout the majority of its history, Earth-Luna was largest component of the Solar political structure in terms of both area effectively controlled and population. Although theoretically a union state of Luna with various other semi-autonomous polities, the relationship of Luna, its economic, political, and social capital, with the remainder of the union more accurately resembled the relationship of a metropole with a colonial empire respectively.

Although the exact extent of space comprising Earth-Luna waxed and waned over the nation's existence, its initial and most significant possessions were Earth and its natural satellite Luna. At the time of its founding, Earth was recovering from the devastating Third World War of 2088 CEC, which had led to a collapse of many governments across the human home world. Prior to the War, Luna had been extensively colonized by individual Earth nations and developed into an economic hub of asteritis refinement and processing. While Earth experienced the meteoric collapse of the belligerent nations' societies, Luna remained politically stable and industrially productive human economy due to the autonomy of those space agencies and interrupted communications from Earth. The remnants of these Lunar space agencies coalesced into LunaGov by 2091 CEC, which in turn became a primary aid-supplier to Earth's surviving population. After stabilizing key former nation-state areas on Earth, the aid administrations were formally merged into LunaGov's structure under the Rio Novo Protocol. This merger constituted the formal establishment of the Earth-Lunar Union in 2101 CEC.
The Union would be a major catalyst for the colonization of the rest of the Sol system's celestial bodies, including most prominently Mars, the Asteroid Belt, the Jovian moons, Saturn's moon Titan, and Apollo. Many of these colonies would break away from Earth-Luna in the late 22nd and early 23rd centuries CEC, starting with Mars in the Martian Revolution of 2192 to 2195 CEC. The Ceres Protocol of 2222 CEC gave political independence to Jupiter and Saturn while retaining economic and military integration, while Apollo gained its independence through a lapse of Earth-Lunar control in the face of rising hostilities with the rivalling Union of Mars. The catastrophic First Earth-Mars War from 2242 to 2263 CEC was the culmination of this rivalry, resulting in significant loss of life and devastation for both belligerent home worlds.
After the end of the First Earth-Mars War, Earth-Luna and Mars' tensions continued as a cold war, while civilian outflows from both planets contributed to the development of the Great Migrations. Despite a lingering economic stall throughout the remainder of the 22nd century CEC, Earth-Luna would rebound by the beginning of the next century, development being spurred by a series of major infrastructure projects and the force projection revitalization of the Lunar Fleet. With demand for resources causing a massive spike in its influence, the First Saturnian Union transitioned into the Second, which, like Luna in Earth-Luna, was characterized by the political domination of the natural satellite Titan over the remainder of the polity. After the Belt Pirates War of the mid-23rd century, the Second Saturnian Union spurned the Ceres Protocol in favour of Mars, with which had made clandestine economic arrangements at Titan's benefit. In 2359 CEC, Earth-Luna launched a surprise attack on Saturn with Jovian assistance, triggering the outbreak of the Second Earth-Mars War.
After its decisive victory in the Second Earth-Mars War, Earth-Luna began a series of processes aimed at reevaluating and reorganizing its economic and political framework into a system which would ideally provide it with enhanced stability and long-term security. After enjoying some of the most prosperous decades in human history following the conclusion of the Second Earth-Mars War, the new arrangement would finally take shape as the Tellurian Federation in 2417 CEC, which was distinctly more democratic and federal in government-style to the autocratic and unitary Earth-Luna. The establishment of the Federation marked the formal end of the Earth-Lunar Union as a distinct political entity, although its socioeconomic institutions and structures would be carried over into its successor and continue to be a major influence for many decades afterwards.
