The coalition's main leader is chair Dou Zhecheng of the Social Democratic Party due to his party holding the largest seats of the coalition.

History

Following the 2022 legislative election, the Kuomintang had won the largest plurality of seats in the Legislative Yuan at 317, but was short of a majority and negotiated with the New Party of China and the Democratic Party of Socialists to form a coalition government that would support many of the conservative policies that all three parties support, even the DPS despite its more left-wing ideological leanings with the DPS' social conservatism leading to the collapse of the previous government under Lin Renjian. This lead to the creation of the conservative Pan-Blue Coalition and would inspire the formation of the Pan-Green Coalition a day later between the Democratic Progressive Party and the Green Party. Wanting to consolidate its support and rally the Chinese left to a unified electoral coalition, the Social Democrats began negotiating with the Communist, and Labor parties and convinced them to join the SDP in forming a left-wing socialist electoral alliance announcing its formation on January 25.
