Rossterre Metro

The Rossterre Metro (Helvoran: Metro de Roixterre) is a rapid transit system opperating in the metropolitan area of Greater Rossterre. Constructed in the early 20th century, the Rossterre Metro is regarded as one of the most efficient railway systems in Helvore and serves over 2,800,000 people every day. The Metro is mostly underground, and consists of 189 stations along fourteen lines, themselves divided into four key metropolitan routes - the East Line, North Line, West Line, and South Line. Unlike many other metropolitan railway systems in the world, however, the Rossterre Metro's lines are usually connected to each other at their terminals, meaning there are often two separate routes to the same destination. The route a train will take is indicated in brackets after the destination, for example, a train travelling to Monte St. Richarde may go via the Monte St. Richarde Line (ie, Monte St. Richarde (via St. Petere)), or via the Monte Vertrailles Line (ie, Monte St. Richarde (via Monte Vertrailles)). This allows for rapid transport between areas of the city's outskirts without the need for passengers to travel into the DCÉ first.

The Rossterre Metro is the 4th busiest Metro system in Europe (after Moscow, Paris, and London, but ahead of St. Petersburg), and 20th busiest in the world (after Nanjing). All of the city's major lines originate from the City Circle, consisting of four stations (Muséë Nationale, Esset-St. Crimse, Place Baudelaire, and Roixterre Centrille) connected via a loop. The largest station is Muséë Nationale, which is a terminal for the North Line (6 Routes), as well as for the various regional V-Line routes outside of the city. An express train can also be caught from Muséë Nationale leading directly to Ventréaux International Airport via the Bourdeux Line, providing relatively quick access for travellers into the city centre.

The Rossterre Metro is rated as one of the most efficient in the world, thanks largely to the coordination of various express lines and alternate routes, allowing for more rapid travel to specific locations. The Metro was first opened on August 16th, 1908, and rapidly expanded to include the newer suburbs in the North-East of the city prior to the first world war. Since then, the Metro has grown to accommodate most of the city, with almost every citizen having access to a metro station within 10 km.
