Skandinavisk Riksbank


Skandinavisk Riksbank, (Central Bank of Skandinavia), is the central bank of Skandinavia and, as heir of swedish central bank, the world's oldest central bank. It was forned in 1952 as a fusion of the danish, swedish and norwegian central banks.

On 31 December 2013, the Bank had 2,547 employees. All Executive Board appointments are made by the King, after a decision by the Council of State. The Chairman of the Executive Board, Svein Gjedrem, who presides over the Bank, is also the acting Central Bank Governor. Both the Governor and the Deputy Governor make speaking appearances across the country on a number of occasions each year.

The motto of the Bank is Hinc robur et securitas (Herefore strength and safety).

Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel

Following its third centennial in 1968, the Bank instituted the annual Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, which is awarded with the Nobel Prizes at the Prize Award Ceremony in Stockholm, on December 10, the anniversary of Nobel's death.

Riksbank Investment Management

RIM is a separate part of Riksbank who is responsible for the operational management of the Government Pension Fund - Global. RIM also manages Riksbank's foreign exchange reserves. RIM invests the fund's assets and the foreign exchange reserves in international equities and fixed income instruments, money market instruments and derivatives.
