The Republic of Vermont was a short lived country in the New England region of Northern America. The state's governor, acting on his own authority, declared Vermont an independent state on 02 February 2005, just little over a month after the Second American Civil War had started. Since the first days of its existence, Vermont was engaged in a bloody war against both the US federal government from Washington D.C. and the federal claimant of Philadelphia. On 02 April 2005, two months after its "independence," the Republic was reabsorbed into the United States, and controlled by Philadelphia. The Province of Vermont today is part of the New England Republic, the successor of the United States in the Northeast.
