Yang Wenhua (born 10 November 1951) is a Chinese politician and diplomat who was the Premier of the Republic of China from 2000 to 2004. Previously he was the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1990 to 1996 and the Secretary of the Central Secretariat of the Landonist Party of China from 1996 to 1999. Originally a reformist politician of the Landonist Party, he joined the administration of President Ren Longyun upon the creation of the Republic of China in 2000 as Premier. Yang resigned in 2004 after disagreements with Ren over policy, and has since become one of the leading opposition leaders to President Ren in China as a member of the Democratic Party.
Joining the Foreign Ministry of the People's Republic of China in 1972, he served in a number of diplomatic posts, mostly throughout the Middle East. From 1973 to 1977 he was a secretary on the Chinese delegation to the Arab League, and then until 1982 he worked at the Chinese embassy in the Hashemite Caliphate. In 1983 Yang became the Chinese Ambassador to Iraq, a post he held until being appointed Foreign Minister in 1990.
