Aquatics competitions at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Istanbul are to be held at the İkitelli Olympic City Zone for the indoor events and the Bosphorus Zone for open water events. Artistic swimming, diving, swimming, and water polo are the four types of aquatic sports in the category, and include a total of 49 events.

Artistic swimming (formerly synchronised swimming) at the 2020 Summer Olympics will feature a total of 104 athletes competing in two medal events, namely the women's duet and the women's team.

The diving competitions at the 2020 Summer Olympics will feature eight events.

The events will be men's and women's versions each of: 3m springboard, synchronised 3m springboard, 10m platform, and synchronised 10m platform.

The diving competitions feature up to 136 athletes. All divers had to be at least 14 years old on or by 31 December 2020.

The swimming competitions at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Istanbul will take place from 25 July to 2 August at the Bosphorus Zone. The women's 10 km open-water marathon will be held on August 5, with the men's race happening a day later (August 6) at the Bosphorus Zone.

Swimming will feature a record total of 37 events (18 for each gender and 1 mixed), with the addition of the men's 800 m freestyle, women's 1500 m freestyle, and the mixed 4×100 m medley relay.

Events

Swimming in 2020 will feature a total of 37 events (18 each for men and women and 1 mixed event), including two 10 km open-water marathons. This is slight increase from the 34 events contested in the previous Olympic Games. The water polo tournaments at the 2020 Summer Olympics are going to include twenty-two teams (twelve for men and ten for women) that will compete, an increase of two from the previous editions. Similar to Rio 2016, games that end in ties in elimination rounds will be decided by shootouts, as overtime has been abolished since 2013.
