3rd May 2024 - Vote of No Confidence in Timothy Clarke confirmed

This afternoon, the Chair of the Conservative Party announced that following a surge of letters submitted in response to poor polling. The vote will take place next Monday with results announced later that day.

1st May 2024 - Insufest renewed again until 2035

Insufest, a popular music contest, has been renewed by Insulaeia National Television for another 10 editions. The contest has been on television since 1995 with it choosing the Insulaei entry to the Eurovision Song Contest. Since 1989, Insulaeia has participated in the competition winning 0 times. In the 2024 edition the rap duo D Rage won with their song "Fallen". The song is yet to participate however is being tossed around as a potential winner.

28th April 2024 - Xavier Harris resigns as an MP

Former Prime Minister, Xavier Harris, has announced he will resign as an MP next Monday. He has stated that after 33 years of serving his constituents he has decided to stand down due to health issues. The regional manager for his constituency, Garry Pearson, will become the MP for Reading South until a new MP is formally elected. Pearson also announced that he would be the candidate for the Social Democrats. Mary Thompson, the leader of the Social Democrats and Prime Minister, has thanked Harris for his political service and the continuous service of his constituents. The by-election is expected to occur on 3 June 2024. The National Progressives state that it will stand down for the Social Democrats in an agreement formed last year. It is unknown whether the Green Party will stand down.

26th April 2024 - Funeral held for Paul III

The funeral for Paul III was held today. After a short procession from Parliament the coffin arrived at St Peter's Cathedral. A funeral service was held between 10:00am and 12:00pm. After another procession throughout Napolis the coffin arrived at Our Lady's Church the private church of the royal family. A private service of family members and designated survivors was held. Paul III was buried in a National Monument in his honour. The Government then reopened for Prime Minister Question's officially ending the mourning period.

22nd April 2024 - Guest list for funeral announced

21st April 2024 - Richard II swears allegiance to Parliament

In a joint meeting of Parliament, Richard II officially declared his allegiance to Parliament and the People. He also re-appointed Mary Thompson as Prime Minister when doing so. This completes the formal transfer of power ahead of the state funeral next Friday. Richard II will now officially recognised as King in his own right instead of being a caretaker. Notably, the Socialists, Republicans and some Green MPs boycotted the ceremony.

Paul III in 2022

19th April 2024 - Paul III dies aged 96

At 17:00 pm it was announced that Paul III had died at age 96. Paul III had been the longest serving monarch of Insulaeia. His son, Joseph, ascended to the throne picking the regnal name Richard II. Paul reportedly died in the late morning after a short illness. The Prime Minister, Mary Thompson, said in a speech outside Napolis House that Paul III had been "the greatest monarch of modern Insulaeia" and that "heaven has gained a new member". Many foreign officials have also paid respects. Republican group, Democracy for Insulaeia, has called for there to be no protests til the mourning period is over.
