Summary

Teaser

Jesse drives Saul's car onto Walt's driveway and quickly snorts a line of meth. He retrieves a gasoline can from the trunk, breaks into the house, and starts dousing the living room with gasoline. Just as he's about to ignite the fuel, Hank bursts in, gun drawn, and commands Jesse to calm down.

Jesse, frantic and desperate, screams about Walt’s crimes, including the poisoning of a child as a strategic move. Hank tries to reason with him, suggesting there’s a better way to handle the situation. Ignoring Hank’s plea, Jesse lights the gasoline and makes a hasty escape.

Hank hesitates, torn between stopping Jesse and ensuring the safety of the family. He puts his gun down slowly and rushes to the front yard. Jesse, meanwhile, storms out through the rear patio door, sprints to the front, and speeds away in Saul’s car. Hank manages to grab Holly and calls for backup.

Act I

In the aftermath of the fire at the White residence, firefighters and police arrived on the scene, working tirelessly to extinguish the flames and secure the area. The once-familiar home was now a smoldering ruin, with emergency crews diligently assessing the damage and investigating the cause of the blaze.

Walt parked down the street from his house, fury building as he saw the smoldering remains of his home surrounded by fire trucks, police cars, and onlookers. Losing his home was a personal blow, and his anger was palpable. Hank and Gomez, shocked by the scene, continued their investigation, trying to piece together the events leading to the devastating fire.

In the evening, when Skyler and Walt Jr. returned home, they were met with disaster. Skyler was devastated, while Walt Jr. was confused and alarmed. When Walt arrived, Skyler demanded to know what had happened. Reluctantly, Walt confessed that Jesse had discovered something he had done and, in a rage, set the house on fire.

Skyler, devastated and shocked, expressed that she had always feared something like this would happen. This revelation led to a breakup, with Skyler, Junior, and Holly moving to a hotel temporarily, leaving Walter White to face the consequences of his actions alone. Walt met with Huell and Kuby, urging them to find Jesse.

Meanwhile, Jesse was on the run, driving aimlessly through the night. Listening to news reports on the radio about the fire and an international manhunt for him, he resolved to dismantle everything associated with Walter White's drug empire. Jesse broke into A1A Car Wash, pouring gasoline everywhere from the cashier counter to the car wash area, and successfully set the building ablaze. This led to an aggressive confrontation with Bogdan Wolynetz, whose initial reaction was anger and a planned desire for retribution against Jesse.

Act II

In response to the burning of the White residence and before the burning of A1A Car Wash, Saul Goodman takes decisive action at his office. He retrieves a satchel full of cash from the ceiling while Francesca shreds documents. Breaking open the wall behind his desk, adorned with "We the People" wallpaper, Saul takes out a shoebox and places it inside his luggage. He hands Francesca two rolls of cash and a lawyer's business card, instructing her to take a phone call on November 12. Saul offers Francesca a hug before she leaves to dispose of the shredded documents, but she scoffs and walks out. He then takes a disposable cell phone from his desk drawer and calls Ed Galbraith, asking for an emergency extraction in coded language.

Meanwhile, as Jesse drives away from the smoldering remains of A1A Car Wash, he realizes he needs money and resources. He decides to drive to the Tohajiilee Indian Reservation, where Walt has buried his money. Along the way, he pulls into a driveway to hide when he sees a line of police cars heading in his direction. Once they pass, Jesse resumes his journey and arrives at Tohajiilee. He spends an hour digging up the barrels and takes almost half of Walt's money, placing it in a plastic bag. In a final act of defiance, he burns the remaining cash and leaves.

The next day, Walt visits Andrea, telling her that he and Jesse had an argument and that Jesse is now missing, hinting that he might be using drugs again. Concerned, Andrea calls Jesse and leaves a voicemail asking him to contact her. After leaving Andrea's house, Walt contacts Jack Welker's gang, contracting Jack and Kenny to kill Jesse if he's gone "out of control." Walt offers to pay triple what he did for the prison job, and both he and the gang agree to the deal.

Meanwhile, at a DEA safe house, Huell is placed under witness protection. Hank and Gomez inform Huell about the burning of the White residence and the chaos surrounding the collapse of Walt's meth empire. They warn him that he could be next on Walt's hit list. Panicked, Huell confesses to lifting the ricin cigarette, a crucial detail that led to Jesse's rampage. The two agents leave, with Hank sternly warning Huell not to use his cell phone or leave the safe house under any circumstances until further notices.

Act IX

In the late evening, Jesse Pinkman drives recklessly to the offices of Saul Goodman & Associates. He breaks into the building and begins to pour gasoline throughout the interior, setting it ablaze. As the fire quickly spreads, Walt arrives at the scene and confronts Jesse. The two lock eyes in a furious standoff. Consumed by rage, Walt hurls verbal abuse at Jesse, making several shocking admissions. He confesses that he poisoned Brock solely to manipulate Jesse into helping him kill Gus and reveals other murders, including Emilio Koyama, Krazy-8, and rival dealers, claiming these actions were intended to protect both Jesse and himself.

Feigning anger, Walt tackles Jesse to the ground. Jesse manages to push Walt off and scrambles to his feet, pulling out his gun with trembling hands. Tears fill his eyes as he aims the gun at Walt. Despite his internal conflict, Jesse reluctantly fires.

Meanwhile, media coverage of Jesse’s actions escalates into a frenzy. At Skinny Pete's house, Skinny Pete and Badger watch as news reports sensationalize Jesse's rampage, dubbing him "The Avenging Angel," "The Man on Fire," or "Housewarming Arsonist," mixing serious reporting with exaggerated commentary. They see Jesse's mother and father being interviewed, urging him to turn himself in.

The episode concludes with Jesse narrowly avoids another close call with law enforcement and later standing on a cliff overlooking Albuquerque at night, studying a map and planning his next move. As he mutters to himself, “This is just the beginning,” he walks away into the darkness.
