History

Geography

Limmared's climate is subtropical-Mediterranean (Köppen climate classification: Csa) with very mild winters, during which most of the year's rainfall occurs, and hot summers with very little rainfall. Summer to mid-autumn tends to be fairly humid, due to the evaporation of warm water off the adjacent ocean being blown on shore by a sea breeze. This humidity is most pronounced at this time of year as the sea water is at its warmest in relation to the rest of the year and during this summer, to mid-autumn period, the apparent temperature often feels higher than the actual temperature would suggest, especially when the wind is light. When the wind is stronger, this effect is lessened somewhat, and the heat feels more manageable. Limmared enjoys plenty of sunshine throughout the year, with an average of about 300 days of sunshine and only about 40–45 with precipitation annually.

Stay safe

Limmared is a safe city for residents and travelers alike, and violent crime is rare. Walking around, day or night, is not an issue, and you will most likely not encounter any crime at all, though you should still take the usual precautions against pickpocketing (especially in the Glass Square), such as not leaving your camera unattended or venturing alone through parks at night. While some of Limmared's boroughs like TBD and TBD have a reputation for seediness among locals, crime levels are actually average.

Like Borås, Limmared is an open-minded, international city with a large number of immigrants and expatriates living in the city (almost 30% of residents has a foreign origin, mostly from Great Valhallan Republic, Hot Dog Empire, Jorvania and the RXC Republic), but you are very unlikely to encounter any problems since you are a foreigner. Gay and lesbian travelers should not experience any issues either: Limmared has a large gay and lesbian community.

The police in Limmared are competent and not corrupt. They are generally helpful to tourists. Most of the officers are able to speak English, so don't hesitate to approach them if you are frightened or lost. Police are generally more relaxed than in other places. Security staff at nightclubs might be more harsh, especially at intoxicated patrons.

Stay healthy

As you savor the capital's summer, be mindful of sun and heat risks. The Mediterranean climate means strong sunlight, so wear a sun hat and sunglasses for protection against sunburn and skin damage. Stay refreshed by drinking plenty of water. Be extra cautious if you have limited sun exposure. Enjoy the season safely in the city, knowing you've taken steps to stay comfortable and well under the summer sun.
