Vastrian (Vastrian: lennoi vastríe [lɛnwa βastʀi]) is a Romance language spoken on the namesake insular region of Vastria, which is located several miles off the coast of France. It is an Occitano-Romance variety closely related to the Gascon supradialect spoken in southwestern France and the Val d'Aran in northeastern Spain respectively. The language's origins correspond with the decline of the Duchy of Aquitaine during the Hundred Year's War, which led to a good portion of the pre-war population to initially emigrate towards northern Spain. However, some settlers soon discovered the mostly uninhabited island of Vastria in 1420 CE.
It serves as the official language of the Republic of Vastria.
