David Rockefeller, 1st Baron Rockefeller (June 12, 1915 – November 20, 2018) was a Continental-born Sierran peer, banker, and economist who served as the Governor of the Royal Monetary Authority of the Kingdom of Sierra from 1979 to 1983. He was the head of the Rockefeller family, and before becoming the head of the Royal Monetary system, he previously served as president of Bank of Sierra and as President of the Royal Bank of San Diego. Rockefeller was one of the richest people in Sierra; by the time of his death, his fortune was estimated at KS$2.6 billion.

The son of John D. Rockefeller Jr., he was the heir of the Rockefeller fortune from Standard Oil and was born in New York City. His family fled the country when he was four years old, during the Continental Revolutionary War, and escaped to Sierra. There the family worked in Standards Corporation, the Sierran successor company of Standard Oil. David Rockefeller planned on attending Stanford and Mulholland University, though his plans were interrupted by the outbreak of the Great War. He served in the Orange Provincial Guard as a Sierran Royal Army officer, and then attended college in the early 1940s. After graduating he worked at the Bank of Sierra, eventually becoming its president in 1965. David Rockefeller had made a name for himself as the manager of the bank's international department, maintaining relationships with dozens of foreign banks, and opened its first branches in the People's Republic of China and Korea in the 1970s. Rockefeller met Mao Zedong on a trip to China in 1963, and also became acquainted with his successor, Zhou Zhiyong, and established the Chinese-Sierran Banking Association. He was a member of the Sierran Council on Foreign Relations and, along with Henry Kissinger, was a co-founder of the Sierran Royal Commission on Relations with China.

In 1976 he was nominated by Prime Minister Kirk Siskind to serve as the head of the Royal Bank of San Diego, and stayed in that role before becoming the Governor of the Royal Monetary Authority in 1979. As the head of the RMA, Rockefeller moved away from his predecessor's policy of monetary tightening in favor of inflation, in order to allow more growth in the economy, following attempts to rein in the deficit caused by the Vietnam and Colombia Wars. But Rockefeller was also appointed in part because of his connections to China, as the Siskind administration wanted to take advantage of the Sino–Continental split to improve Sierra's relations with both the Chinese and the United Commonwealth. Rockefeller accompanied Siskind on his visit to China in the summer of 1980, in which they met with Chinese economic leaders and laid the groundwork for what became the modern Sierra–China economic relationship. The meeting facilitated the move by hundreds of major Anglo-American corporations of not only manufacturing, but also their research and development functions to China. He was made a hereditary peer as Baron Rockefeller in the fall of 1980.

Rockefeller retired from the Royal Monetary Authority in 1983, shortly after the end of Siskind ministry. In a state of semi-retirement, he continued engaging in political advisory roles and managing his family's organizations, as well as philanthropic work, up until the late 2000s, including working as an advisor to the Royalist governments of Matthew Bragg and Diana Jeong. He died in 2018 at the age of 103.

Early life and education

He was born on June 12, 1915, in New York City, to John D. Rockefeller Jr. (the son of John D. Rockefeller) and his wife, Abigail Greene Aldrich. His father was the only son of John Rockefeller, the founder of Standard Oil, and his mother was the daughter of the Rhode Island senator in the Senate of the Northeast Union. As a child, David grew up in what was at the time the tallest residential apartment building in Manhattan. The family lived there until February 1919, when they chose to evacuate in light of the Northeast Revolution and the Continental Revolutionary War, with the Northeast Union being annexed into the new United Commonwealth of Continental States. They were able to take much of their fortune after the Treaty of Bernheim signed between the Continental States and Western Anglo-America allowed financial and business interests of the East Coast to take their wealth out of the country, with much of it going to either Superior or Sierra.

In Sierra, David grew up in Irvine, Orange, attending a private school with the intention of going to Stanford University after. His father was invested in the Sierran branch of what had been John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil, known as Standards Corporation, and became the chairman and CEO of the company in the early 1930s. With their existing fortune and John D. Rockefeller Jr. being the head of Standards, the family was one of the wealthiest in Sierra and had plenty of connections in both government and the business world. However, David Rockefeller's plans to attend university were interrupted by the outbreak of Great War I in North America in April 1932, when he was 17. He would attend Stanford from 1943 to 1947 and graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics, and then received a master's degree in the subject from Mulholland University in 1949.

Career

Military service

With the war breaking out, the Rockefeller family wanted to support the Sierran defense effort, having moved their to flee the Continentals and now facing again a Continental invasion. David Rockefeller enlisted in the Orange Provincial Guard as an Army soldier in 1933, and was sent to Army Officer Candidate School in 1934, being commissioned as a second lieutenant upon completing the course. David Rockefeller was attached to an infantry unit in Imperial that saw action during the New Mexico campaign of 1935–1936, when the Continental Army attempted to pass through North Mexico to bypass the Sierran trench lines in the New Mexico desert, further to the north, after years of stalemated trench warfare.

Later life

In November 1980, he was made Baron Rockefeller of San Clemente-by-the-Sea in Orange.

Political connections

Rockefeller traveled widely and was acquainted with numerous Sierran prime ministers and officials, along with foreign leaders, including Mao Zedong, Zhou Zhiyong, Nigel Anthony, Faisal II of Hashemite Arabia, and Kim Il Sung. He was a member of several policy steering committees, including the Sierran Council on Foreign Relations, and was a board member of Henry Kissinger's Kissinger Associates.

For decades, David Rockefeller and his family had been said by conspiracy theorists of being involved in an international conspiracy to take control of the Kingdom of Sierra and the world, to established a world government. The family was called by a Royalist MP and later historian, Jonathan Sutton, as the "Sierran Rothschilds," who referred to a 1973 article in Porciúncula Times in which Rockefeller called for a "World State" to establish world peace, which he believes is necessary to facilitate free trade. Sutton claimed that Rockefeller family was part of a "group of elites working towards the creation of a one-world order ... for what purpose? Control. Control over every government through the financial system." Sutton claimed that although the opening and reform of China began during Great War II, the economic policy that turned China into a superpower in the 21st century "on the back of Anglo-American technology and investment" was on started on the initiative of Rockefeller and Henry Kissinger in the late 1960s and 1970s.

Personal life

Rockefeller has been married to Margaret MacGrath since 1940, and they have six children:

He had a net worth of KS$2.6 billion, some of which was held in family trusts set up by his father or by himself, and he owned multiple properties in Sierra, along with a ranch in New South Wales.
