A Tyranny Known as Truth (ATKAT) revolves around the superhabitable moon Uingffh and one of its alien nations, the Kingdom of Kaywell. Achieving interstellar travel, Kaywell facilitates contact with various other alien civilizations across the local stellar neighborhood. Together, they unite into the Interstellar Consortium of Polyingffh, and enjoy centuries of peace and prosperity dotted by occasional yet manageable conflict.

However, the situation quickly changes in the early 21st Century when a brown dwarf named Thriteria passes through Uingffh's star system, resulting in asteroid impacts that damage important cultural sites and anger conservative forces within the Kingdom of Kaywell. A few years later, third princess Urlum Eudae Kaywell discovers ancient alien ruins that reveal that the Izlondians, the direct ancestors of the Uingffhian intelligent species, seeded all non-Uingffhian life in local space - a revelation that takes Polyingffh by storm. Though her discovery is lauded by Polyingffh's scientists and historians, the aforementioned traditionalist political factions within Kaywell seek to exploit her discovery to transform Kaywell from an egalitarian democracy to an ultra-conservative theocratic speciesist regime hellbent on enslaving all non-Uingffhian sentients in the name of Izlondia and Uingffhian supremacy, even if it means the devastation of Uingffh itself.

ATKAT serves as an alternative universe to The Objective: Legend of Urlum the Evil where Uingffh does not initially engage in interstellar imperialism and instead forms diplomatic unions with the other neighboring alien civilizations. It should be noted that the ATKAT and LOUTE universes do not canonically interact. Additionally, knowledge of LOUTE lore is not required to view ATKAT articles.
