The Constructed Worlds Wiki uses Patreon and Paypal to source funding from its users to help pay for the costs of hosting the website. As a free-to-use service using copyleft, open source MediaWiki software, the Constructed Worlds Wiki is partly founded on an underlying principle of collaboration. Supporting the Constructed Worlds Wiki by subscribing to the Patreon is the best way to show your support for our community and our website. One time donations via Paypal are also greatly appreciated.

Since September 2023, the price for subscription to the Patreon as a standard Patron has been set at 4.20 USD, which is roughly equivalent to about 4% of the monthly hosting costs of the website. Conworlds is independently hosted on AWS; the price is non-trivial but the quality of service and computing resources provided by AWS is well worth the price. An average day of hosting costs around 3.50 USD. To that extent, one standard Patron pays for about a day and a half worth of Conworlds' existence per month.

Although Conworlds is not, nor ever will be, a "freemium" service, we want to offer our generous donors and patrons the recognition they deserve. Subscription to the Patreon or a one-time donation comes with three potential benefits:

  1. The username of a Patreon subscriber at any tier or a one-time donor is put on the Main Page of the website forever, even if they only subscribe for one month!
  2. A subscribed Patron or higher tier giving more than can select any article from the wiki to promote on the Main Page on a monthly rotational basis.
  3. A subscribed Patron or higher tier gets the Patron role on our community Discord server for added recognition.

Patron Article of the Month

Once it is their month to choose, subscribed patrons can promote any article from the wiki on the Main Page. The rotational list is first-come first-serve, but if a new subscriber to the Patreon is added on the last month of rotation, they still get to choose an article for the following month.
