The Indie Wiki Jam (IWJ) is an interwiki event hosted jointly by Square Enix Independent Wiki Alliance (SEIWA) and Independent Wiki Federation (IWF; the latter of which the Constructed Worlds Wiki is a member of) as a means to encourage editing among independent wikis.

The primary purpose of the event is to encourage users to edit on wikis that they have not edited on before. The inaugural Indie Wiki Jam will be held between Friday, 12 January, 2024 to Friday, 26 January 2024, as a two (2) week-long event.

Participating editors who contribute to the Constructed Worlds Wiki during the event should add #IWJ in their edit summary in order to count towards the event. IWJ-qualifying edits on the Constructed Worlds Wiki are only eligible to newly registered users and users who have not edited in the past six (6) months (as of 12 January). Those who edit on the Constructed Worlds Wiki are encouraged to participate in IWJ by editing on any of the other wikis listed here where they do not have any active contribution history within the past six (6) months.

For more information, visit the Indie Wiki Jam website or its Discord server.

Getting started

If you are a new user who does not have a registered account on the Constructed Worlds Wiki, first and foremost: Welcome to our wiki and community! We are excited to have you here and encourage you to create an account here.

After creating an account, it is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the basics and purpose of the wiki by reading the Beginner's guide. If you have never edited a wiki before or know how to use MediaWiki, you should read the how to edit page. If you have no idea what worldbuilding, also known as conworlding, is, have no fear, for we have a general overview on "What is conworlding?", as well as "What is althistory? for better understanding. Finally, new editors are encouraged to read "What Conworlds is not" to have a sense of what is not allowed. If you have Discord, the wiki has a Discord server which we strongly recommend joining as it is the best resource available for new editors who want to learn more about the wiki and its projects, as well as to get to know the community! The server hosts the wiki's administration and many members of the community who are available to provide advice, support, and comment.

You are very welcome to contribute in however manner you feel most comfortable with. This may entail creating a new world or project, or joining an existing project. If you are interested in joining collaborative projects, make sure to double-check with the project's editors prior to contributing. You may leave a message on one of the editor's talk pages or join the Discord server to ask. If you do not feel comfortable or confident yet in creating your own project or joining an existing one, you may still help contribute by fixing grammatical errors, expanding stubs, leaving suggestions at our village pump, or working on personal sandboxes. When in doubt, do not hesitate to reach out to the wiki administration who are more than willing to answer any questions and concerns.
