Dagestan, officially the Federal Republic of Dagestan, is a sovereign state in the North Caucasus, Europe. Dagestan consists of 4 federal republics, with boundaries mostly based on ethnic groups, and which each hold some autonomy. Dagestan is bordered with Waynakhia to the north-west, Georgia to the south-west, Azerbaijan to the south, and the Caspian Sea to the east. The capital of Dagestan is the city of Anji-Kala.
