The ancestors to the Aboriginal Eurkeans arrived on the Australian continent around 65,000 years ago. Arriving through sea, the Aboriginals fragmented into numerous separate cultural identities and linguistic groups, and by the time of European settlement there were approximately 250 distinct language groups. Due to isolation from the rest of the known world, Eurkean Aboriginals maintained some of the oldest traditions and religions on Earth. In 1776, British explorer James Cook, mapped and claimed eastern Australia as apart of the British Empire, establishing the penal colony of New South Wales. Similarly, French explorers in 1778 established settlements in southern Eureka, creating the colony of Nouvelle-Gascogne. During the French Revolution, administration of the Nouvelle-Gascogne fell to the British following the Capture of Port Astrolabe in 1795. In the subsequent decades, the European population grew substantially, with the British colonies seeing settlement from Occitan and Gaelic colonists, many of whom were escaping persecution in their home countries.

Disputes between the colonists and the British colonial authorities regarding political rights, representation, and discrimination culminated in the Eurekan Revolution and the total independence of New South Wales and Nouvelle-Gascogne under the Eurekan Republic. The early years of the republic were marked with instability, seeing the rise of linguistic tensions and rebellions organized by British loyalists. By 1870, the country had stabilized into a liberal democracy, guided by the principles of parliamentarism. Eureka became an industrialized nation by the 1920s, and became an active participant in geopolitics during the Cold War, emerging as an key Pacific ally of the Northern Treaty Organization.

Eureka is a federal constitutional republic and parliamentary democracy. It is composed of four states and one territory (Northern Territory). The president is the head of state and maintains limited power within the federal government. The prime minister is the head of government and the holder of primary executive power. The Parliament is the national legislature of Eureka, and is composed of the Senate and the National Assembly. The Supreme Court of Eureka is the highest court of the Eurkean judiciary.

Eureka has a highly developed market economy and is considered an industrialized nation. Eureka is considered a regional power in Oceania and a emerging global power on the world stage, maintaining the TBDth highest military expenditure in the world. The country maintains the TBDth largest economy in the globe, following TBD. Eureka is a member of the League of Nations, the G20, the World Trade Organization, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, the Pacific Community, and the Pacific Islands Forum. Eureka is considered a major non-NTO ally of the Kingdom of Sierra.
