Television channel

Nationell Radio (NR) is a Prillovanian commercial television and radio network, owned by General Electric, with its headquarters located in Limmared at the NR Tower. Established in 1895 under the original name Seanish Radio Television (Seanska Radio Televizija), NR holds the distinction of being the oldest nationwide television channel in both Prillovania and the world. However, it was preceded by LKTV, which began broadcasting earlier but was limited to Limmared and nearby areas.

NR started with experimental broadcasts in most of southern Prillovania, but by 1901, it was granted commercial broadcasting rights and rapidly expanded nationwide. Over time, it became the dominant television network in the country, earning the nickname "Peacock Network" due to its distinctive peacock logo, introduced in 1956 to showcase early advancements in color broadcasting.

NR has a wide network of affiliates across Prillovania's provinces and colonies, including in Genovia. Some of its channels are also available in Valhalla, Clerkenburg, and Mikaland through pay-TV services or over-the-air broadcasts in border regions.

Criticism and controversies

NR has faced significant criticism in the past for its perceived bias in favor of Bea Blume and the subsequent Frank Ranson administrations. The network's coverage of both the First and Second Jorvanian Wars was widely panned for lacking neutrality. However, after the Red Coalition came to power, the level of bias in NR's reporting noticeably decreased.

Despite this shift, MSNR, NR's sister network, has remained a focal point of controversy, often accused of being overly opinionated and facing allegations of both liberal and conservative bias. The network has also been criticized for making pro-government statements and occasionally spreading false information.

In March 2019, Wired reported that NR hired a firm to rehabilitate its public image by lobbying for edits to Wikipedia pages related to NR, Nextdoor, and other associated entities.
