Thiago Alberto Correa Estopinal (born 7 November 1937) is a Berriman politician who served as the second prime minister of the Republic of Berima for one term between 1994 and 1996. Colloquially referred to as the 'Forgotten Prime Minister,' Correa was essentially booted off the ballot in 1996 by the APSD following unfavorable approval ratings during his first term of office. The decision backfired for the APSD when PCC candidate Selena Gaona defeated his replacement Leocadio Betancur in the 1996 election to become the first conservative prime minister of the nation.
Correa was born in Facile to immigrant parents from Honduras. His early childhood was marked by poverty and squalor in the slums of Facile until he received a scholarship to attend Princeton University in the United States in exchange for military service in the Berriman armed forces as an officer. He attained the rank fo colonel before being honorably discharged in 1966. Following this he began his political career and became Mayor of Facile in 1974. In 1978 he became the final First Secretary of the Berriman Communist Party, a position which he held from 1978 until the collapse of the communist government in 1986. Following the creation of the Republic of Berima Correa was appointed as Secretary of Defense by first president Floyd Manuel Peréz. In 1996 he won the APSD nomination for the candidacy for prime minister and defeated PCC pundit Tonio Casco in a tight race.
