The Association for the Advancement of Independent Projects (AAIP) is a voluntary association on the Constructed Worlds Wiki. Its stated purpose is to represent independent projects' interests and provide leverage against larger collaborative projects. The organization currently has ten members. Anyone can join, provided a majority of the organization approves of it. A user has no formal requirements once they are a part of the association.
How can I join?
You can contact any member if you are looking to join the association. We will then hold a vote and provided a majority vote in favor, you will be allotted membership. (This rule is currently not active) You can rescind your membership at any time.
What is the purpose of the AAIP?
We are looking to represent the interests of independent projects, which we feel are sometimes overlooked compared to collaborative projects. This can be done through united voting on wiki votes, helping other independent project users, and advocating for policies favorable to independent projects.
Future possible functions of the AAIP
- To act as a resource for other independent project authors to find assistance with things such as vector graphics, writing feedback, and other things.
How does it work?
We act as a voluntary association, wherein all members have full autonomy. However, if the organization can agree on a certain issue and vote in unison, we can achieve big change during Wiki votes. Discussions take place on the talk page of this article and the #aaip-general
-channel on the official Conworlds Wiki.
Does anyone represent me?
No, for the time being, you represent yourself. As we are still a small organization, we believe that we can come together and, if needed, choose a user to speak on behalf of the association when needed, on a case-by-case basis.
Do I need to have an existing project to join?
No! Anyone can join, for example, you can be a member whilst also contributing to collaborative projects.
To-do list
We want to:
- Implement a good-article showcase on the main page, as most Featured Articles are Altverse-II related and rotate around the same, very limited number of articles.
- Find new ways to drive traffic to independent projects
Additional possible to-do's if all members agree to it:
- Advocate for the restructuring of the
{{flagicon}}
template, it is currently centered around Altverse II, with users needing to addotl
at the end to ensure that the flag is not that of the Altverse equivalent.
