Johann Frederick Hauptsmann (born November 3rd, 1950) is a Superian politician and lawyer serving as the TBD Secretary-General of the Conference of American States since 2015. A member of the Superian Christian Democratic Party, Hauptsmann previously served as a member of the House of Delegates, Superior's legislative lower house, from 2003 to 2015 and as the Governor of the state of Dakota from 1992 to 2000.

Born in Heisenburg, Dakota, Hauptsmann would be raised in a rural environment. Hauptsmann would attend Grand Falls University, and later the prestigious Durum League Cumberland University, receiving a master's degree in law. Hauptsmann would open a law firm in Augustus, Dakota in 1977, becoming a family attorney. After decades practicing law, Hauptsmann would enter politics, running and being elected as the Governor of Dakota as a member of the Christian Democratic Party. Hauptsmann would be the first Christian Democrat in Superian history to win a governorship. As Governor, Haupstmann would help recover the Dakotan economy following a state financial crisis and would be influential in building the state's tourism industry. He would be re-elected in 1996 and would leave office in 2000, being term limited. After a few years of retirement, Hauptsmann would again enter politics, running for and being elected to the House of Delegates in 2003.

As a member of the House of Delegates, Hauptsmann support liberal conservative and Christian centered legislation, being a proponent of multi-partisan co-operation. He would also be a leading proponent for a coalition between conservative parties represented in Parliament. Hauptsmann would become the chair of the Christian Democratic Study Committee in 2008. A longtime supporter of the Conference of American States and American unionism, Haupstmann would be selected to become the next Secretary-General of the Conference of American States, assuming office in 2015. As Secretary-General, Hauptsmann has become a chief advocate for greater unification between member states, and has worked to oppose Ameroskeptic groups all around the organization, most notably in Sierra during the 2017 CAS membership referendum.
