The administrative divisions of the United People's Committees are divided primarily into six federal states and the capital district of Bogotá. Each federal state is further subdivided into the second-level administrative division of regions (which includes autonomous regions). The third-level administrative divisions are departments. Municipalities represent the lowest level of administrative division although further informal divisions exist below municipalities.
