The Blue Media and Entertainment Group, commonly shortened to Blue Entertainment, Blue M&E, or just Blue, is a Libertan adult entertainment division of mass media conglomerate Rogue Media. Established in 2007, the division operates casinos, strip clubs, bars, night clubs, and pornographic distribution. The name is derived from both the double entendre of "blue" as referring to something risqué or erotic in nature, as well as clearly differentiating the division from the mainstream RED brand of Rogue Media, as the two colors are commonly viewed as opposites.
The division was created in 1999 under the name Star Casinos, and initially served the purpose of administrating executive chair Marc Roberts' recently acquired gambling facilities. By 2003 however, Roberts' saw potential in the rise of internet pornography. Wanting to invest in the industry but without associating the valuable RED brand with adult entertainment, the board decided to rebrand Star Casinos to Blue Media and Entertainment. To further prevent any reputational damage, the division received its own headquarters in a separate building.
Today the division manages several valuable brands, such as Golden Eagle Casinos, Vegas Vim, and Club Noir. Despite being a highly profitable part of Rogue Media, it is seldom publicly associated with the parent company. Blue M&E also operates offices in Las Vegas and Macau.
History
Originally named Star Casinos, the division that is now Blue Entertainment was founded in 1999. Executive chairman of Rogue Media, Marc Roberts, founded the division following his acquisition of two failing casinos in Liberta. The division initially only functioned as a shell corporation protecting the assets of the casinos, headed by himself. The division would slowly expand, as Rogue Media acquired night clubs, bars, and other establishments in nightlife in the following years. These businesses were, however, largely insignificant compared to the other divisions of Rogue Media, due to their comparatively small profit.
In 2003, the rise of internet pornography caught the interest of Marc Roberts, who wished to invest in the industry. However, due to the stigma surrounding pornography, the board convened and decided to rebrand Star Casinos to Blue Media and Entertainment. The division received its own building, rather than the Rogue Building, in a completely different part of Liberta, where it has remained headquartered. The covert nature of the division was revealed quickly however, as Roberts' was involved in a defamation lawsuit, revealing the division to the public. Following this incident, Roberts' spoke openly about the industry, using the stigma of adult entertainment as a form of shock advertising.
The division created the Lécher Distribution brand, the first major digital pornography distributor in Liberta. Roberts' decided against entering the production itself, as he determined it to be risky. In a 2004 interview he likened it to not wanting to "get [the company's] fingers dirty painting, just sell the artwork." Following success with distribution, the division founded several brands, rebranding most of its various strip clubs and night clubs under the two brands Club Vixen and Club Noir.
In 2011 Blue Entertainment expanded into the American market by purchasing several casinos in Nevada, and establishing an office in Las Vegas. It organized the internet casino Vegas Vim, marketing it worldwide, with a strong target audience in East Asia. Subsequently, in 2013, it opened offices in Macau. Around the same time, the division garnered attention in Japan, as its sub brand, Lécher Distribution, assisted Japanese pornography production companies to circumvent genital pixelization laws. This resulted in several lawsuits, which were all settled by 2015.
