Borz (vehicle manufacturer)
Borz Motors, Inc., usually shortened to Borz, is a Waynakh multi-national automotive manufacturer with its headquarters in Orga-Ġala, Orga-Xi Province, Waynakhia. The company designs, manufactures and sells various types of vehicles, primarily passenger cars and other similar vehicles, but has also produced other types of road vehicle.
Borz Motors was founded on 7 March 1994, with the first model of car, the Ẋalxara, going into production in 1997. The car was marketed as a low-cost and low-maintenance, yet reliable and safe vehicle, primarily for the Waynakh market, but the car grew quickly in popularity, and sales expanded into neighbouring states in the Caucasus region. The vehicle's popularity surged in 2001 after experimental new variants were launched, including an estate version, a coupé, and high-end version of the vehicle with more modern features, which led the brand to enter the European market.
Sales of the Ẋalxara were unexpectedly good in many markets, especially the developing world, and the company's revenues led to noticeable expansion in the economy of Waynakhia. Encouraged, the ?? model was released as the second mass-production vehicle from the brand in 2003, helping to grow the popularity of the brand locally and abroad. During the mid-2000s however, sales of Ẋalxara began to decline, with the car's design being criticised as aging and outdated, along with international competitors in low-cost vehicles providing better performance and value for money. At the same time, the brand developed various further vehicles, again mainly for the domestic market, but many of which became popular in the wider Caucasus and also European markets. Since the end of production of Ẋalxara in the summer of 2008, the brand has changed its image, becoming known for producing mainly more luxurious vehicles while still offering its renowned low-cost alternatives in some markets. Borz Motors also gained a high market share in electric cars in the early 2010s with the ?? model, one of the first electric passenger cars to be launched into the mass market, providing competition against other similar cars launched during the same period.
Borz Motors currently sells ?? models of vehicle, ?? of which include a hybrid and/or electric version, and the brand operates in ?? markets.
