Bryan Michael Rhee (born March 15, 1955) is a Sierran bishop serving as the Archbishop of Cheshire, the most senior bishop and figure in the wider Church of New England since June 16, 2009. Prior to being appointed Archbishop of Cheshire, he previously held the position of Bishop of New Rotterdam from 1990 until 2009. As Archbishop of Cheshire, he is not only the head of the Diocese of Cheshire, but is also the overall leader of the New Anglican Church below just the Supreme Governor, and is the overall ceremonial head of the worldwide New Anglican Communion.

Born in New Rotterdam, Plumas, Rhee was raised in a New Anglican household with the religion influencing his upbringing and most of his life. Born in 1955, he was raised in Plumas where he would attend King Charles University to pursue a religious education. Inspired by his parents' faith, he would seek to become a minister within the Church of New England and was made a priest on September 22, 1980. Rhee would eventually rise to become a bishop in 1990 serving as the Bishop of TBD before he was appointed by Charles II of Sierra on June 16, 2009 to succeed Roman W. Johnson as Archbishop of Cheshire after an internal election within the General Synod.

As Archbishop of Cheshire, Rhee has represented a more mainstream version of New Anglicanism which is his personal theology, though he has had talks with the evangelical sect of the church. He has been a close religious and spiritual advisor to the royal family and ranks as the most senior official within the High Officers of State within the order of precedence and oversaw the coronation of Elizabeth II of Sierra in 2015. Rhee has long since viewed the church as a unifying institution and has stressed the importance of the church to be nonpartisan in regards to political affairs and has only stated his political views on specific occasions.

Early life and education

Rhee was born in 1955 to Rhee Cheol-woo and Sung-hee (née Choi) in New Rotterdam, Plumas. His parents emigrated from Korea during Japanese colonial rule as refugees following the Great War to escape Japanese persecution and discrimination against ethnic Koreans. His father was a bank teller who found employment at SteelYard Bank while his mother stayed home to raise Rhee and his four siblings. Rhee and his family joined the Church of New England after they begun attending Korean-language services at a local parish. As a child, he became an altar boy and participated in the church choir.

Rhee attended public schools in New Rotterdam before his family moved to Plaza Buena, Orange. He graduated with high honors from the Francis Yamada High School and attended King Charles University, initially majoring in English. Rhee decided to pursue a career as a minister after he was involved in a serious car accident that required multiple surgeries. After recovering from the accident, he switched his focus towards theology. He earned his Master of Divinity from King Charles University in 1980 and studied at the Mulholland Theological Seminary.
