The Confederation of Terra Armed Forces are the military forces of the Confederation of Terra. It consists of the Army, the Navy, Air Force, Space Navy and the Coast Guard. The President of the Confederation of Terra is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces and forms military policy with the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of the Interior, both federal executive departments, acting as the principal organs by which military policy is carried out. The official and working language of the Confederation of Terra Armed Forces is English.

The C.T. Armed Forces are one of the largest military forces in terms of personnel. It draws its personnel from a large pool of paid volunteers. Although conscription has been used in the past, it may occur during wartime.

Structure

Leadership of the Armed Forces, to include the President of the Confederation of Terra, Minister of Defence, Minister of the Interior and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff are members of the Confederation of Terra Security Council, which advises the president on national security, military, and foreign policy matters. The Federal Security Advisor and Deputy Federal Security Advisor may also be members of the Confederation of Terra Armed Forces. The Security Council Deputies Committee also includes the Vice Minister of Defence, Vice Minister of the Interior, and Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Confederation of Terra Domestic Security Council, which advises the president on homeland security, includes the President of the Confederation of Terra, Minister of Defence, Minister of the Interior and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Interior Security Advisor may also be a member of the armed forces. Military leadership, including the Minister of Defence, Minister of the Interior, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff also sit on the Federal Space Council.

Service branches

Army

The Confederation of Terra Army (CTA) is the land service branch of the Confederation of Terra Armed Forces and part of the civilian-led Sub-Ministry of the Army, which is led by the Sub-Minister of the Army. The military head of the C.T. Army is the chief of staff of the Army, who is assisted by the vice chief of staff of the Confederation of Terra Army and sergeant major of the Army.

The five core competencies of the Army are to conduct:

  1. Prompt and sustained land combat
  2. Combined arms operations
    1. Combined arms maneuver and wide area security
    2. Armored and mechanized operations
    3. Airborne and air assault operations
  3. Special operations
  4. Set and sustain the theater for the joint force
  5. Integrate national, multinational, and joint power on land

The four army commands are:

  • Confederation of Terra Army Forces Command: Provides Army forces to combatant commanders.
  • Confederation of Terra Army Training and Doctrine Command: Recruits, trains, and educates soldiers and develops Army doctrine.
  • Confederation of Terra Army Materiel Command: Develops, maintains, and acquires systems and materiel.
  • Confederation of Terra Army Research Command: Modernization and future systems development.

The C.T. Army's field structure is broken into several subdivisions under its commands:

Navy

The Confederation of Terra Navy (CTN) is the maritime service branch of the Confederation of Terra Armed Forces and part of the civilian-led Sub-Ministry of the Navy, which is led by the Sub-Minister of the Navy. The military head of the C.T. Navy is the chief of naval operations, who is assisted by the vice chief of naval operations and master chief petty officer of the Navy.

The five enduring functions of the Navy are:

  • Sealift

Air Force

The Confederation of Terra Air Force (CTAF) is the air service branch of the Confederation of Terra Armed Forces and part of the civilian-led Sub-Ministry of the Air Force, which is led by the Sub-Minister of the Air Force. The military head of the C.T. Air Force is the chief of staff of the Air Force, who is assisted by the vice chief of staff of the Confederation of Terra Air Force and chief master sergeant of the Air Force.

The five core missions of the Air Force are:

  • Air superiority
  • Global integrated intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance
  • Rapid global mobility
  • Global strike
  • Command and control

The Air Force's major commands are:

Space Navy

The Confederation of Terra Space Navy (CTSN) is the space service branch of the Confederation of Terra Armed Forces and part of the civilian-led Sub-Ministry of the Space Navy, which is led by the Sub-Minister of the Space Navy. The military head of the C.T. Space Navy is the chief of space operations, who is assisted by the vice chief of space operations and senior enlisted advisor of the Space Navy.

The five core competencies of the Space Navy are:

  • Space security
  • Combat power projection
  • Space mobility and logistics
  • Information mobility
  • Space domain awareness

The Space Navy's field command and center is:

  • Space and Missiles System Centre

Coast Guard

The Confederation of Terra Coast Guard (CTCG) is the maritime security, search and rescue, and law enforcement service branch of the Confederation of Terra Armed Forces and part of the Ministry of the Interior, which is led by the Minister of the Interior. It is the only military branch outside the Ministry of Defence, but can be transferred to the civilian-led Sub-Ministry of the Navy, which is led by the Sub-Minister of the Navy, in the case that the Assembly of Terra stipulates that when declaring war or the president directs. The military head of the C.T. Coast Guard is the commandant of the Coast Guard, who is assisted by the vice commandant of the Coast Guard and master chief petty officer of the Coast Guard.

The eleven missions of the Coast Guard are:

The C.T. Coast Guard is organized into nine area commands:

  • Coast Guard Northwestern Atlantic (which includes the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean)
  • Coast Guard Southwestern Atlantic

  • Coast Guard Mediterranean Area
  • Coast Guard Northeastern Pacific Area (which includes Hawaii and Alaska)
  • Coast Guard Southeastern Pacific Area
