Estreoth/Jishe

Jishe is the largest settlement in the Jurasha Jungle.

History

Jishe was founded circa 223 AM by Jurashian tribals along the Ebes River in the second century. However the cities history from there is virtually unknown to outsiders. What is known is that, over the millenia, Jishe has been destroyed or abandoned at least six times. In at least one case, the location of the city was relocated along the river after the previous city was destroyed.

Overview

Jishe is, without question, the most xenophobic city in Etrothos. Outsiders are met with heavy suspicious and violence is considered an acceptable tool in dealing with them. Very few enter the actual city despite the large presence of foreigners that stay at the city docks. Their presence is tolerated only because they bring income into the city's coffers.

Economy

Jishe doesn't have any economy of note, at least not one visible to outsiders. Despite the fact it sits on one of the largest trade routes in Etrothos, Jishe has refused to sell goods with outsiders since the Cabal usurped control from the king in the earthy 16th century. Despite the embargo, trade boats are still allowed to transport goods through Jishe and up the Ebez river. However, the Jishen officials charge rather large fees for travelers and merchant ships that wish to pass through. Occasional attempts to strong arm the locals have met with very poor results.
