Firmar is the capital of the Duchy of Rhöntal. Firmar operates as a County and is the heart of the Firmar metropolitan area. With a population of 2.2 million, Firmar is the most populous city of Rhöntal and the sixth largest in the European Union. Internally Firmar is divided into 12 district. The Rivers Gaubach, Fir and Rhön meet in Firmar with the Parliament of Rhöntal housed in the Government Palace overlooking the mouth of the Fir into the Rhön.
Firmar is a world city of culture, politics, media, and science. Its economy is primarily based on high-tech industries and the service sector, encompassing a diverse range of creative industries, research facilities, media corporations, and convention venues. Firmar also serves as a continental hub for air and rail transport and is a popular tourist destination.
