Gallia Square is a KARRS and Randgriz Metro station, on the KARRS Randgriz Line and Metro lines 1 and 3, located in downtown Randgriz City. It is the only Randgriz Line station not on the INR Capital Corridor, and the only inter-city railroad station inside of Randgriz City's Old City Walls. It is located on the west side of Republic Circle, in the city's Gallia Square District.

This station is the only underground station on the Randgriz Line, and the most recently opened KARRS station. The KARRS Platforms were integrated into the existing Republic Square Randgriz Metro station, which consists of two subway tracks and two street-level streetcar tracks, at the time they were completed. The complex was renamed Gallia Square at the start of KARRS service there in 2003. It is owned by the Gallia Department of Transportation.

History

In 1980, after numerous complaints from city business leaders about the inaccessibility of the inner parts of Randgriz City from Koiwai, the municipal government of Randgriz City, along with the state Department of Transportation created the Regional Transportation Plan, allotting for the creation of several rapid transit lines throughout the city, and a re-alignment of the existing Capital Corridor rail line through downtown Randgriz City.

Community Leaders, Residents, and Preservationists all rallied against a massive rail viaduct traveling through their neighborhoods. As a compromise, in 1987, GDOT decided to build a small, two-bore tunnel underneath downtown Randgriz City for KARRS commuter trains as a spur off of the main Capital Corridor route, and an underground station on the spur in downtown. Around the same time, construction was being finalized on a streetcar/subway station to serve the west side of Republic Square, for the Randgriz Metro system. The Metro station, on the Line 1 streetcar and the Line 3 subway was opened for service in 1990. Construction began in 2000 on the KARRS platforms, and was completed in early 2003. Service began in 2003 on the KARRS Randgriz Line.
