Gary Newsom identifies as a social liberal and supports policies advancing LGBT rights, reproductivec rights, immigrant rights, and is opposed to all socially conservative policies, proposals and legislation. Newson supports legal gay marriage and praised his home province of Tahoe in 2012 for legalizing same-sex marriage via legislative action calling it "long overdue" and openly attended pride marches in Sacramento during his time as mayor. When Boulangier v. the Deseret passed in 2022, Newsom praised it and called it "absolutely necessary and long overdue". He also publicly denounced the regional government in the Deseret for its opposition to LGBT rights, the most intense in the country, and supports dismanteling the Deseret's theodemocratic political system to advance LGBT rights.

On abortion, Newson identifies as pro-choice and is opposed to any legislation restricting and banning abortion. When the Heartbeat Act in Maricopa passed in early 2022, Newsom denounced the act as authoritarian and accused governor Cory Grumann and the provincial government of "trampling on women's rights to advance a delusional agenda no one supports".

Minimum wage

Foreign policy

Newson holds a mixed record in regards to the relations between Sierra and the United Commonwealth. In general, Newson has supported normalizing relations between the two countries and supported Susan Kwon during her visit to the United Commonwealth in April 2021. Newsom has opposed an aggressive stance towards the United Commonwealth for much of his political career, calling it unnecessary, however has expressed concern over the authenticiy of the Continental government's commitment towards cooperation and peaceful coexistence. Following the Amazonas incident in December 2021 and the beginnning of the Caribbean diplomatic crisis, Newson denounced the United Commonwealth and has supported almost all proposed sanctions against them, even supporting the Economic Freedom and Trade Act, but has called for it to be ammended to exempt certain Continental allies such as Tournesol and Bolivia among others.
