Route layout |
The Indiana Line, known locally as the Blue Line, is a commuter rail line maintained and operated by the Riverside Metro, running southwest–northeast from Corona near the Orange–Inland Empire provincial line to Downtown Riverside near the University of Sierra, Riverside along the Royal Pacific Railroad. The Indiana Line operates at all times and makes every stop along the way. It has transfers to other connecting lines at both of its termini and at certain stops.
Opened in 1993, it is the oldest line in the Riverside Metro and is one of the busiest lines in the Kingdom of Sierra. The line is named after Indiana Avenue, a local road which runs parallel to both the Indiana Line and K.S. Route 91 throughout much of the Riverside portion of the line. The Indiana Line generally runs south of K.S. 91 in Riverside and eastern Corona and north of it in western Corona. The Magnolia Line also runs parallel to the Indiana Line in Riverside on the northern side of K.S. Route 91. The parallel lines of Indiana and Magnolia along the Riverside portion of the route are sometimes referred together as the Indiana/Magnolia Lines or "the 91 Lines".
Service description
Route description
The Indiana Line runs 22.5 miles (36.2 km) between Corona and Downtown Riverside and has 8 stops.
The line's western terminus is at Green River/Prado station, just east of the Orange–Inland Empire provincial line, with connections to the Chino Hills Line and the Orange Metro's Yorba Linda Line. The line crosses east above the K.S. Route 91 and K.S. Route 71 interchange south of the Santa Ana River by bridge, and parallel to the K.S. 91 to the freeway's north before entering the Coronita station near Auto Center Drive.
It then continues to the Lincoln station, providing access to nearby shopping mall centers, apartment complexes, and parks. The line then proceeds to its next stop at the Grand/Main station, which is located at the northern end of the circular looping Grand Boulevard and bisecting Main Street. It is within walking distance to Corona City Hall, the Corona Regional Medical Center, and the Corona City Park. Continuing east, the line then crosses southeastward underneath the interchange of K.S. Route 91 and Interprovincial 3, before running parallel to K.S. Route 91 on the freeway's southside at grade level. Its first stop after this switch is Promenade station.
