Interstate 23 (Fictonia)
Interstate 23 (I-23) is a 340.06 mile long Interstate Highway. The highway runs from west of Aura City, Fictonia north to Colebrook County, Riverland, serving as the primary north–south Interstate corridor through central Fictonia.
The highway passes through mostly rural areas, while the southern areas and central areas near Fort Ashland predominantly track through populated regions of Fictonia. I-23 intersects many major roads, including Interstate 123 near Fort Ashland, Fictonia, Interstate 223 near Fort Ashland, Fictonia Route 7 (The Curve of the South) near Solar City, and Fictonia Route 12 in Monroe County, Fictonia.
History
Early History
In June 2024, Interstate 23 was established from Aura City, Fictonia, to Pocahontas County, Cascadia. The route was met with both praise and criticism, as some believed it should not have passed through Cascadia. Others believed the route was necessary and was fine the way it was.
I-23 Route Shift
The following month, plans were drafted to change the route to instead pass north into Carbon and Riverland, at the time along Fictonia Route 1. The route was also drafted to stretch down to the coast of southern Fictonia. On December 22, 2024, the change was completed. The interstate now stretched up to the Central Fictonian Republic border in Riverland, along the same route of Fictonia Route 1. Fictonia Route 1 was diverted into Cascadia, and was also extended north into northwestern Riverland. Interstate 23 did not extend south into southern Fictonia, however.
Name Change
With the draft of the new I-23 in July, new names for the route were proposed, being I-75 and I-85. The name "I-75" has stuck more and may soon become I-23's new name if the southern portion of the route is completed.
