The Kentish Kingdom (Old English: Cantwara rice) was an Anglo-Saxon realm in southeast Britain that existed from the 5th century to the late 9th century. It was carved out of Romano-British territory by the Jutish warlord Hengest and his son Œsc, who arrived on the Isle of Thanet circa 430 AD, after being invited by Vortigern.
