The Krybolotinian Imperium, often colloquially referred to as the Imperium, the KI, or just simply Krybolotine, was an interstellar dictatorship that controlled a span of 57 star systems for over eight centuries, subjugating billions of individuals living within its borders for its entire lifespan. The Imperium was infamous for its autocratic government and dictatorial policies which caused the subjugation of eight different species for hundreds of years within labor stations. The capital of the Imperium was initially located in the city of Lavassia on the planet Colarium, where the Imperium originated, but it was later shifted to the city of Demorvia on Krybolotine. The Imperium's legal citizenry was made up almost entirely of Krybolotinians, the native intelligent species of Krybolotine, while a large non-Krybolotinian population living in labor stations provided resources and goods for the citizens. Despite its long reign, the Imperium only minorly changed in terms of policy and culture as it progressed, due in part to the long lifespan of Krybolotinians (275-325 years), and as such many generations of other species were forced to suffer through the same subjugation and oppression as their progenitors.
The Krybolotinian Imperium was founded on November 17, 2361 in the Colarian city of Lavassia by Krybolotinian Prime Legislator Yeros Demio Kalama after racial tension between Krybolotinians and Surmestos there reached a breaking point. Initially, the Imperium was seen as a minimal threat by most Krybolotinian officials, even referring to it simply as the "Lavassian Tantrum", but after Imperial forces singlehandedly led a genocide against the Surmestos, public concern about the group greatly increased. Over the following few decades, the Imperium engaged in a long and deadly civil war with its predecessor state, the Krybolotinian Republic. Although the Republic initially managed to overpower Imperial forces, Kalama utilized his skill as a general and extensive knowledge of other species to gain the upper hand. Over the course of a few years, several strategic and decisive victories helped the Imperium drive back the Republican forces. In 2389, Imperial forces took the Republic's capital of Krybolotine and in 2401 the last of the Republic forces were either destroyed or captured, so Yeros Kalama issued the Proclamation of Victory, shifting the capital to Krybolotine instead of Colarium.
After solidifying his power as Commander and creating a stable political system, Yeros shifted his focus to crushing rebellions within the nation and centralizing labor. The 2400s were a time of growth and development for the Imperium as they grew in power, characterized by economic porspreity and racial subjugation. In 2487, however, the Krybolotinians for Liberty Organization launched a revolt, attacking the Salboria Space Station and killing Yeros Kalama. The Imperium responded with a the immediate and brutal elimination of the rebellion and the gruesome executions of its leaders as revenge.
One of Krybolotine’s most important policies was systemic oppression of non-Krybolotinian citizens. Any non-Krybolotinians or religious dissenters would be sent to a labor station immediately and sentenced to a lifetime of labor (or in the case of religious criminals, labor until they converted). Children were indoctrinated to believe they were genetically inferior and then made to work 16 grueling hours a day as soon as they reached maturity. Despite being fed fairly and having acceptable bedding, laborers were held to a strict schedule. The Imperium would take extreme measures to get more labor, even going so far as to kill any citizen of an invaded world who refused work, leading to nearly all citizens choosing to instead be enslaved. They forced the reproduction of an untold number of individuals to increase the population of laborers. The fiercest and most determined of workers in Krybolotine were made into Psychologically Modified Laborers or PMLs. These unfortunate individuals would be brainwashed to believe in Krybolotinian supremacy and coerced into a plethora of jobs, ranging from law enforcement to running labor stations, which were often filled with laborers of their own race.
The driving factor behind Krybolotine's oppression was Odeaism—more specifically a sect of Odeaism called Tydoba-Odeaism. This faction of the faith believed that Krybolotinians were supreme and that any other species was not worthy enough or chosen by Odeais to live independently. In their eyes, capturing and enslaving other species was for the eventual benefit of the entire universe and when they died; it was believed that they would be entitled to a perfect afterlife with Odeais if they did so. As such, they took it as their personal duty to indoctrinate any non-Krybolotinians into their belief system.
