The Republic of Linari is a landlocked country in East Africa, located between Congo, Zambia and Tanzania.

History

Large-scale Bantu migration to the area now known as Linari occurred in the 2nd and 3rd centuries.

British colonization occurred in the late 19th century. Colonial boundaries created to delimit Linari grouped together a wide range of ethnic groups with different political systems and cultures. These differences prevented the establishment of a working political community after independence was achieved in 1961. There have been tensions between the Sukuma and Ondobe tribes, as well as several military coups.

In 2008, a military coup led by Edward Otanga overthrew the monarchy and a provisional republican government was established.

Economy

Linari's main industries are agricultural, but there are large quantities of silver in the Gobu Hills.

Demographics

Linari has a population of 1.3 million, with a growth rate of 2.75%, according to 2009 estimates.

Linari's population is made up of the Sukuma and Ondobe native ethnic groups.
